Sources: Kings guard Buddy Hield to participate in 3-Point Contest

LOS ANGELES — Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield has accepted an invitation to compete in the 3-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend on Feb. 15 in Chicago, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Hield is averaging 20.3 points and shooting 37.3 percent from beyond the arc with 178 made threes, second only to league leader James Harden, who has made 202 for the Houston Rockets.

The fourth-year guard participated in the contest last year for the first time and finished in third place.

Brooklyn Nets sharpshooter Joe Harris is the defending champ, but he’s still mulling whether to accept his invitation, sources said.

Harris is shooting 39.9 percent from 3-point range and averaging 13.7 points.

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard and Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young have accepted invitations to participate, sources said.

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has yet to commit to the event, sources said.
