Sorry, Fazoli's fans. The restaurant's highly anticipated Phoenix comeback is delayed

Fans of the Italian fast-casual chain Fazoli's rejoiced in March when the restaurant announced its return to the Valley after shuttering all Arizona locations in 2008. But they will have to wait a little bit longer than previously expected to enjoy Fazoli's again.

In August, Fazoli's revealed via Instagram that the first of nine new restaurant locations would open at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport before the end of 2022.

When will Fazoli's open at Sky Harbor Airport?

However, construction on the new restaurant location won't begin until early in the new year, according to a December news release. The restaurant is expected to open in spring 2023. Fazoli's did not specify a reason for the delay.

The new locations will be operated by Kind Hospitality, the Mesa group that also runs Panera Bread, Macayo’s Mexican Food and O.H.S.O. Brewery.

In addition to the pizza, pasta and breadsticks that Fazoli's is known for, the Terminal 4 location will also be the first in the country to include a breakfast menu.

Details on the other planned Arizona locations have not yet been announced. All are set to open by the end of 2024, according to Fazoli's.
