For the record: Solon won this matchup last year, which gives the host Cardinals some motivation in this one. Mentor was victimized by Medina's high-scoring offensive machine a week ago, so the defense will look to tighten things up this week against Coach Brian Wisniewski's Comets. ... One thing Mentor has going for it is an offense that is really clicking right now. QB Scotty Fox threw for more than 500 yards last week to go with five touchdowns. Senior Jacob Snow, a former QB, caught 13 passes a week ago and joins the likes of Jordan Stapleton and Holden Cerny in giving Mentor a scary passing attack. ... Solon needs a win here to keep pace with league-leader Medina, with a Week 10 game with the Bees in the future. Last week, Charlie Bubonics threw for 270 yards and four touchdowns against Brunswick. RB E.J. Taylor is capable of a big game, too. ... Whose defense is going to come up with the big stop or the key takeaway to swing the tide in this one? That's the big question.
