Softball: Lubanski, Roberge pitch Enfield to win

Apr. 21—The Enfield High softball team was on top of its game Tuesday.

Tiffany Lubanski and Sula Roberge combined on a two-hitter as the Eagles rolled to a 10-0 win over visiting Windsor in a CCC interdivisional game.

Lubanski allowed one hit, walked three, and struck out seven in four innings of work for Enfield (3-1). Roberge finished up with three innings of one-hit ball. Makenzie Cray led the offense with a home run and three RBIs. Olivia Stebbins also drove in three runs while Taylor Lathrop drove in two.

Enfield is at E.O. Smith today. Windsor (3-2) hosts Hartford Public today.

COVENTRY 18, EW/SMSA 3. In Coventry, Lindsey Harrington hit for the cycle and drove in seven runs in the host Patriots' NCCC victory.

Coventry (3-2) used a 10-run second inning to take a 13-0 lead. Remmy Casida had two hits and two RBIs while Abby Boya also had two hits for the Patriots. Katie Blume and Sam Corrado had two hits each for the Panthers (2-3).

Today, Coventry hosts Stafford while East Windsor visits Granby.

GRANBY 14, ROCKVILLE 2. In Vernon, winning pitcher Abby Kidd struck out 14 and had three hits at the plate in Granby's NCCC win.

Kayla Davis chipped in three hits and two RBIs for the Bears (5-0). Senior Jordyn Covert made her first start of the season in the circle for Rockville (3-2) and struck out nine.

The Rams host Suffield today.

SOMERS 5, STAFFORD 1. In Stafford, Emily Reynolds struck out seven in a winning effort as Somers won a NCCC game.

The Spartans (4-1) scored four times in the first inning, with all the runs coming on either a walk or passed ball. Stafford (1-2) was able to load the bases in the top of the sixth, but settled for one run on a groundout by Sam King. Megan Lafayette completed the scoring with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

Lafayette had two RBIs while Reynolds and Madison Hinkley had the other Somers hits. Casey Milnes paced Stafford with two hits while Emily Padegimas took the loss.

The Bulldogs are at Coventry today while the Spartans welcome Windsor Locks Thursday.

BOLTON 17, WINDHAM TECH 0. In Windham, Breelin McDougal pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts in Bolton's non-league win.

The Bulldogs (1-2) scored 12 runs in the first inning. Marina Juan had a pair of doubles and Caleigh Sheehan a triple in the win.

Bolton is at Ellington today.
