The College Football Playoff released its latest top 25 rankings for the 2022 season Tuesday. Tennessee is ranked No. 7, one spot behind No. 6 Alabama despite defeating the Crimson Tide.

Interesting that Ohio State's wins over 8 and 21 was pointed to as the difference maker over Alabama's wins over 20 and 24 to have OSU higher.

In comparing Alabama and Tennessee, CFP committee chair says the "outlier" between their resumes was UT's loss to South Carolina rather than UT's win over Alabama.

I'm guessing the Tennessee fans are not happy to be at No. 7 behind Alabama, a team the Vols beat. Committee obviously took into account that QB Hendon Hooker is injured. The committee has that descretion. The basketball committee has always factored in injuries. I don't like it

Based on its own criteria, there’s no way the CFP should’ve ranked Alabama ahead of Tennessee. Reputation from past accomplishments is literally the only thing Bama had in its favor in this debate.
