'SNL' firing over racist jokes: Fair or overreaction?

“Saturday Night Live” dropped comedian Shane Gillis just a few days after announcing he had joined the cast of the show. Gillis was cut after clips emerged online in which he used racial slurs and made derogatory comments about Asians, Jews, gays and others. Gillis responded to the clips with a statement saying he’s “a comedian who pushes boundaries” and that his “intention is never to hurt anyone.” “SNL” said it was ending its relationship with him in light of what it called his “offensive, hurtful and unacceptable” language.
