A smooth experience: Marble Brewery, Meow Wolf worked to create the crisp lager Day Ghost

Jun. 25—Venture into the multiverse that is Day Ghost.

The crisp, new Japanese-inspired rice lager is a collaboration between Marble Brewery and Meow Wolf. It will be available on July 1 at Marble locations, as well as at Float in the House of Eternal Return installation in Santa Fe, Datamosh in Meow Wolf's Omega Mart installation in Las Vegas, Nevada, and soon at the Meow Wolf location in Denver.

Marble will throw a launch party to celebrate the release from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Marble Brewery at 111 Marble Ave. NW. The celebration will feature live music from local duo Sun Sounds and special guest performers from the Meow Wolf exhibitions.

Day Ghost will be available in Tall Boy 19.2-ounce cans to ensure the "smoothest and most approachable drink experience," according to a Marble news release.

"We wanted to design an approachable beer, appropriate for any season or setting, while also providing a new and unique experience that Marble Brewery and Meow Wolf are known for," said Barbie Gonzalez, president and chief operating officer at Marble Brewery. "Marble experimented with rice lagers and Day Ghost is a perfect iteration of a refreshingly crisp, clean, light, Japanese-style rice lager."

Day Ghost is brewed with a generous percentage of brown rice flakes and uses the process of cool fermentation, followed by maturation in cold storage like most traditional lagers, according to Gonzalez.

"The perfect pairing with any journey to the multiverse, Day Ghost brings another layer to the full sensory experience of our exhibitions," Briar Schwartz, product coordinator at Meow Wolf, states in the news release. "Guests can now enjoy an accessible, full-body ride — from sight to sound to touch to taste — whether they're in New Mexico, Nevada or Colorado. The quality and craftsmanship that Marble brought to the table in creating this one-of-a-kind lager is unparalleled and we are excited to work with one of Albuquerque's favorite breweries."

The collaboration is a couple of years in the making.

"Meow Wolf approached Marble around 2 years ago," Gonzalez said. "We wanted to create an approachable beer, enjoyed by everyone, for sale exclusively at Meow Wolf and Marble locations. After preliminary discussions, we agreed we were in alignment, and could showcase the depth and experience of both our worlds through beer. We introduced them to our beer and, although COVID impacted our timeline, we continued to refine the recipe flavor profile of Day Ghost."

Collaborating on Day Ghost was an enjoyable experience for both Marble and Meow Wolf.

"A pleasure!," Gonzalez said of the collaboration. "Meow Wolf and Marble are two innovative (New Mexico) organizations that have done a phenomenal job at showcasing talent within our state. Together, we are proud to create endless possibilities, flavors and experiences that make New Mexico unique."
