Smoke alarm alerts residents to garage fire; no injuries

Jun. 14—No one was injured when a garage fire damaged a home in Southwest Rochester on Sunday.

The Rochester Fire Department responded to the 3700 block of Odyssey Drive Southwest for a report of a fire in an attached garage at about noon Sunday. Smoke alarms alerted someone in the home to the fire, and that person found smoke coming from the garage.

All the occupants of the home were able to get out before crews arrived on the scene.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from a garage window. They knocked down the fire, which destroyed one vehicle in the garage and damaged the garage. The rest of the home suffered minor smoke damage, according to fire officials.

Crews stayed on the scene to look for hot spots, and fire marshals responded to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
