Slate of events planned in Greater Grand Forks on Fourth of July

Jul. 1—GRAND FORKS — Looking for something to do on the Fourth of July? The Sertoma Club of Greater Grand Forks delivers with 12 hours of fun, games, delicious food and drinks, topped off with an amazing fireworks show near South Middle School on the city's south end.

Plus, you can enter the YMCA's Firecracker 5K or 10K Run or Walk on the Greenway downtown.

The annual Sertoma Fourth of July Celebration kicks off with a kiddie parade and opening ceremonies at 11:45 a.m. Monday. Raising of the flag and an official welcome begin at 12:15 p.m.

The event, to be held near South Middle School, 1999 47th Ave. S., will feature food truck fare and live entertainment by the City Band, 1-2 pm.; Kenny and the Classics, 3-6 p.m.; and Slamabama, 7-10 p.m.

Lots of activities are planned for all ages, including games, contests, inflatables, a magic show, caricatures, police and fire department demonstrations, and much more during this family-friendly festival.

In the Sertoma Club's annual Fourth of July Raffle, ticket-holders have a chance to win $10,000, $5,000 or $1,000. Proceeds will go to the UND Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the club's other charitable activities. You need not be present to win. The Home of Economy is also holding a drawing for a Traeger Pro 22 Grill, valued at $800. No purchase is necessary; sign up in person Monday, July 4, at the Sertoma tent.

The festival will culminate with a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m.

The Altru Family YMCA and Altru Health System are inviting the public to kick off their Independence Day festivities by joining the annual YMCA Firecracker 5K and 10K Fun Run or Walk beginning at 8 a.m. on the Greenway, across from Town Square in downtown Grand Forks.

The event also features a free Kiddie Run, which starts at 8:15 a.m.
