Six UND commits land on Central Scouting's NHL Draft watch list

Oct. 19—Six UND commits, including a pair from Greater Grand Forks, are on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's watch list for the 2022 NHL Draft.

All six players are listed as 'C' prospects, which means Central Scouting is currently projecting them as potential fourth-, fifth- or sixth-round picks.

Cole Spicer, a forward from Grand Forks, and Trey Ausmus, a defenseman from East Grand Forks, are both on the list.

Spicer, who played at Grand Forks Central, currently plays for the U.S. Under-18 Team, which is based in Plymouth, Mich. Ausmus, who played at East Grand Forks Senior High, currently plays for the Madison Capitols in the United States Hockey League.

The other four UND commits on the list are forward Dylan James of the Sioux City Musketeers, forward Bowden Singleton of the Okotoks Oilers, defenseman Tyler Dunbar of the Muskegon Lumberjacks and defenseman Jake Livanavage of the Chicago Steel.

The 2022 NHL Draft is scheduled to be held in Montreal on July 7-8.

UND has had at least one player selected in every NHL Draft since 1998.
