Sioux Falls Roosevelt hits past Kernel softball

Sep. 22—The Mitchell softball team lost two straight at home to Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Tuesday. The Kernels lost Game 1 7-0 and Game 2 4-3.

In Game 1, Mitchell committed seven errors and was held scoreless. Mitchell's Ellie Kisor went 2-of-3 at the plate while Ruby Uithoven and Kelsey Amick had one hit each.

Keirstyn Krcil pitched all seven innings, striking out two batters, but allowing two earned runs on seven hits.

In Game 2, Mitchell managed to out-hit Sioux Falls Roosevelt 7 to 6 and commit less errors than the Rough Riders. Mitchell tied the game at the top of the seventh inning, but gave up an RBI single at the bottom of the seventh to end the game.

Macey Linke had three hits and scored two runs while Madelynn Steiner had two hits and one RBI. Brooklyn Jarding had one hit and one RBI as well, while Kisor chipped in with one hit.

Linke pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs and six hits.

The Kernels travel to Sioux Falls for a doubleheader against O'Gorman on Sept. 23 at Sherman Park.
