“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” star Simu Liu and comedian Bowen Yang dived into a competition of who has the most “First Asian” honors on “Saturday Night Live” (SNL).

The “First Asian”: On the Nov. 20 episode of “SNL,” host Liu and cast member Yang turned competitive while congratulating each other for being the first Asians in different categories.

  • The “SNL” sketch begins with Liu entering the dressing room of Yang, who immediately points out, “This has never happened before — Asian male host, Asian male cast member.”

  • They draw a relation between becoming the “first Asian Marvel lead” and “SNL's first Asian cast member” and question the idea of being celebrated for being the “first Asians.” However, their conversation quickly becomes a competition as they battle for who has the most “First Asian” awards.

  • The sketch pokes fun at their supposed accolades such as Yang being the “First Gay Asian Cast Member To Mispronounce ‘Boutique’” and Liu for being the “First Asian Man to Deadpan on Splash Mountain.”

  • “Don’t you think these titles are kind of ridiculous?” Liu asks before bringing up more of their questionable “first Asian” titles.

  • When presented with the “First Asian Man To Do A Cher Impression On NBC” award, the two battle it out for the title while singing “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

  • While Liu wins the award, Yang is able to one-up him by stating, “But just remember, Simu ― whatever first thing you do, I’ll always be gay.” The sketch ended with a close-up of Yang deadpanning on Disneyland’s Splash Mountain ride.
