Simone Biles speaks out after brother's arrest, expresses 'sincere condolences'

Simone Biles spoke out publicly for the first time on Sunday since her brother was arrested and charged with murder last week for his alleged involvement in a New Year’s Eve triple homicide in Ohio.
Biles — the four-time Olympic gold medalist who is currently preparing for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo next summer — expressed her “sincere condolences” to the victims, and said that she was “still having a hard time processing” the news.

“My heart aches for everyone involved, especially for the victims and their families,” Biles wrote on Twitter. “There is nothing that I can say that will heal anyone’s pain, but I do want to express my sincere condolences to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.
“I ask everyone to please respect my family’s privacy as we deal with our pain. XO.”
The comments were her first since her brother’s arrest, other than a brief tweet on the night that the news broke.

Telvin Biles-Thomas, 24, was arrested late last month after an eight-month investigation into a shooting at a party at an Airbnb rental on New Year’s Eve in Cleveland, Ohio. Per the report, several people attended the party who were not invited and were asked to leave. A fight then broke out, which led to gunfire.
Devaughn Gibson, 23, DelVaunte Johnson, 19, and Toshon Banks, 21, all died of multiple gunshot wounds and were allegedly shot by Biles-Thomas. Two others were wounded.
Biles-Thomas, who is in the Army, was also charged with voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault and perjury. His arraignment is scheduled for September 13.
Biles, according to USA Today, did not grow up with Biles-Thomas. She and three other siblings were placed into foster care when she was three. Her and her younger sister then grew up with their maternal grandfather and his wife in Houston, while Biles-Thomas and their other sibling moved to Cleveland with a different relative.
