Here's who made decisions to play college sports in Shreveport-area

Northwest Louisiana had a massive college recruiting day Wednesday with more than 50 area athletes announcing where they will compete next.

Although there were no Power Five schools among the local signees, Louisiana-Lafayette landed a Captain Shreve linebacker and Haughton lineman, while Louisiana Tech reeled in 6-foot-4 wide receiver Daxton Chavez of Airline and Arkansas State inked Benton’s Pearce Russell.

FCS Nicholls State, Lamar, Northwestern State and Grambling each found something to like in the Shreveport area. Division III and non-scholarship Centenary had six area athletes commit to playing on the Gents’ inaugural football team.
