St. John Vianney 54, Holmdel 18: Jasiah Queen, the NJSIAA fifth-place finisher at 157 last season and the Shore Conference Tournament 165-pound champion and Escape The Rock Tournament 160-pound champion this season, wrestled up at 175 pounds for the second match in a row and defeated talented freshman and SCT 175-pound runner-up Alexander Reyes by technical fall as the Lancers (10-2, 6-0) clinched the outright divisional title with the win over the Hornets (15-8, 1-5).

It is the second straight season St. John Vianney has won the divisional title and third divisional title in its history. The other one came in 2018.

Donovan Catholic 33, Toms River East 24: A 3-2 win by Lucas Bova (113) followed by a win by technical fall by Kurt Wehner (120), last year's NJSIAA 106-pound seventh-place finisher and a 1-0 win by returning state qualifier and SCT 120-pound third-place finisher Dezmond Lenaghan (126) over returning region qualifier Jaton Wellington enabled the Griffins (6-14) to erase a 24-22 deficit over the final three bouts and defeat the Raiders (10-10).

Donovan Catholic 51, Pinelands 24: The Griffins won nine of the 14 bouts, but the Wildcats' Mason Livo (132) defeated Sawyer Ostroff 3-1 in sudden victory in a matchup of returning state qualifiers.

Raritan, the defending NJSIAA Group 2 champion, is the No. 1 seed in the Central Group 2 section.

Middletown South, last year's Central Group 4 finalist, is the No. 4 seed in North 2 Group 4.

CLASS A SOUTH

8 Jackson Memorial 55, Brick 15: Junior Cael Huxford (150) returned to the Jaguars' lineup with a pin as Jackson Memorial (12-6, 5-2) defeated the Green Dragons (9-7, 3-4).

It was the first time Huxford, a returning state qualifier, had wrestled since the Robin Leff Tournament on Dec. 17.

Jackson Memorial is the No. 2 seed in the NJSIAA Central Group 4 section and will wrestle No. 7 seed Hightstown Monday night in the first round of the state tournament. If it wins that match, it will host the winner of the match between No. 3 seed Manalapan and No. 6 seed Colts Neck Monday night in the sectional semifinal.

Defending sectional champion Brick Memorial is the No. 1 seed in the section.

Toms River East 58, Central 12: Returning region qualifier James Lynch defeated returning state qualifier Cosmo Zaccaro 7-2 at 215 pounds as the Raiders (8-9, 3-4) defeated the Golden Eagles (2-19, 1-6).

Manasquan 38, Point Pleasant Beach 26: A 1-0 win at 126 pounds by returning region sixth-place finisher Michael O'Connor over returning region qualifier P.J. Niethe started a six-bout, 25-point run as Manasquan (7-9) rallied from a 17-3 deficit after four bouts and defeated the Garnet Gulls (12-9).

Middletown South 40, Freehold 27: Returning region champion and three-time state qualifier David Hussey (165) defeated returning state qualifier Joseph Berryman 11-4 as the Eagles (8-4, 4-3) defeated the Colonials (3-10, 2-5).

2. Christian Brothers Academy 55, Marlboro 6: Returning state third-place finishers Tyler Barrett (150) and Zander Silva (157) pinned, as did freshman Parker Hughes (165) and returning region champion Peter Grippo as the Colts (8-8, 7-0) clinched the outright divisional title with the win over the Mustangs (4-16, 0-7).

It is the second time in three seasons CBA has won the divisional title outright and the third straight season it has won at least a share of the divisional title. It shared the divisional championship with Howell and Middletown South last season.

It is the fourth divisional championship in CBA program history.

Middletown North 56, Freehold Township 22

9. Howell 48, Manalapan 24: Junior J.J. Machnik (138) pinned returning state qualifier Vincent DePierro and returning state qualifier and SCT 120-pound runner-up Xavier Ortega (120) defeated 22-4 Anthony Vitola 5-0 as Howell (16-6, 5-2) defeated Manalapan (20-5, 5-2).

Manalapan led 12-10 after four bouts before a win by technical fall by two-time state qualifier D.J. Henry (190) began a four-bout, 20-point run that gave Howell a 30-12 lead. Heavyweight Thomas Richards had a pin during that run.

Returning state qualifier Kieran Bruen (150) and 2021 NJSIAA 113-pound fifth-place finisher and two-time state qualifier Sebastian Ortega (126 also pinned for Howell. ,

CLASS A CENTRAL

4. Raritan 48, Rumson-Fair Haven 20: The Rockets (18-5, 5-1) jumped out to a 33-0 lead after seven bouts and went on to defeat the Bulldogs (8-8, 4-2) in what may well have been a preview of an NJSIAA Central Group 2 semifinal that will take place Monday night at Raritan.

Raritan, the defending Group 2 state champion, is the No. 1 seed and will wrestle Spotswood in a Central 2 quarterfinal Monday night. Rumson-Fair Haven, the No. 4 seed, will wrestle No. 5 seed Delran in a Central 2 quarterfinal Monday night. Both of those matches will take place at Raritan. The winners will then meet.

Aidan Davis (113) began the match with a 5-2 win over Eamon Fry, who was the SCT fifth-place finisher at 106. Matt Erven (120) and returning state qualifiers Ryan Mansueto (132) and Zach Reilley (138) and junior Logan Acevedo (150) pinned during the opening run.

Robert Mulligan (165) and Riyan Bhutto (heavyweight) also pinned for Raritan.

CLASS A SOUTH

1. Southern 65, Toms River North 0: Returning region champion Wyatt Stout (132) defeated returning state qualifier Joe Dolci 8-5 as the Rams (14-1, 7-0) clinched the outright divisional title with the win over the Mariners (1-19, 0-7).

It is the third straight season Southern has won the divisional title outright. It is the 13th divisional championship in Southern's history

There were seven forfeits and two double forfeits in the match.

CLASS B NORTH

Long Branch 50, Colts Neck 12: The Green Wave (14-5, 7-0) won the first six bouts and 11 of the first 12 as they jumped out to leads of 24-0 and 44-3 and went to defeat the Cougars (13-7, 5-1) to capture the divisional title.

It is the 25th divisional championship in Long Branch's history and first since 2018.

Freshman Tornick Kajaia (175) put the punctuation point on Long Branch's win with an 11-10 win over returning region fifth-place finisher Joe Layton.

James Renna (120), Logan Smith (157), Cristian Cunalata (165) and Mark Godsil (heavyweight) pinned and two-time state qualifier Joe Giordano (150) won by technical fall for Long Branch.

CLASS B SOUTH

Donovan Catholic 61, Lakewood 18

6. Point Pleasant Boro 39, 10. Jackson Liberty 33: A pin by Nate Fletcher (138) in the next-to-last bout clinched the Panthers' win over the Lions (8-5, 4-2) and gave them their 30th divisional championship in program history.

It is the first divisional title for Point Boro (13-1, 7-0) since 2020.

Red Bank Catholic 60, Shore 12: Sabino Portella (175), the 2021 NJSIAA 170-pound runner-up and a two-time state top four finisher, had a pin in five seconds in the Caseys' win over the Blue Devils.

Seton Hall Prep 31, 3. St. John Vianney 30. Seton Hall Prep won on criteria E (most 6-point wins, 3-2): A pin by returning state qualifier Logan Brozozowski (113) in the next-to-last-bout gave the Pirates )13-1) a 30-24 lead and then they were able to forfeit to returning state champion Anthony Knox at 120 as they defeated the Lancers (9-2).

St. John Vianney was ranked No. 10 in this week's New Jersey Wrestling Writers Association Top 20. Seton Hall Prep was in the also receiving votes category.

Brozozowski's pin capped a three-bout, 15-point run from heavyweight-113 that enabled Seton Hall Prep to erase a 24-15 deficit.

Returning state qualifier Jack Tierney (heavyweight) started the run with a pin. Anthony Pellegrino (106) then tied the match 24-24 with a 5-2 win over freshman and Shore Conference Tournament 106-pound runner-up Matthew Gould.

Returning state fifth-place finisher and SCT 165-pound champion Jasiah Queen (175) pinned for St. John Vianney.

St. John Vianney sophomore Patrick O'Keefe, the NJSIAA runner-up at 106 last season, did not weigh in.
