Retailing for just $11, this bundle comes with two security alarms designed to be placed at doors or windows. The product is said to be ideal for those who want an extra measure of home protection without breaking the bank on a full-fledged home security system, which can cost upwards of $180.
Here’s how it works: When the alarm is installed and the door or window it is attached to is opened, a loud 120-decibel alarm is sounded to deter the intruder and alert those inside the residence as well as surrounding homes.
For added convenience, the alarm features a built-in low battery test button to easily check battery life. It also comes with a 90-day limited warranty. It should be noted, though, that this device is designed for indoor use only.
According to the product’s description, the GE Personal Security Window or Door Alarm is perfect for homes, garages, apartments, dorms, RVs and offices.
The gadget also boasts a seamless user experience with three adjustable settings: off, chime and alarm.
Installing the device is very simple — no wiring is required. Plus, easy-to-follow- mounting instructions and hardware, including four LR44 batteries and double-sided tape, are included for seamless installation.
In addition to checking all the boxes on paper, the GE Personal Security Window/Door Alarm is shopper-approved with over 4,000 Amazon shoppers singing its praises.
One five-star reviewer, who called the device “small but mighty,” shared that it is perfect for renters and homeowners.
“The alarm is battery-operated, so there’s no need for expensive installation,” the shopper noted before listing that she loves its “small, discreet design” and “no-brainer installation.”
The same reviewer also made a point to stress that it is “cheap in price but not in quality.”
Another shopper shared that, when activated, the alarm is “really loud” — a feature they claim is “very effective.”
This particular feature, however, seems to be the only con for a few reviewers who explained that, while an alerting sound is certainly the point of the alarm, it would be helpful if there was a meter in place to adjust the device’s volume to the user’s desired level.
One reviewer who shared this sentiment added, however, that despite the alarms’ loudness, “These do the trick! We’re alerted right away.”
