The majority of Meghan Markle’s wardrobe might be unobtainable - we’re looking at you £9,000 Valentino dress - but there’s one item the Duchess owns that’s affordable.
Enter the Castañer wedge. The 38-year-old royal has worn the espadrille shoe - first crafted in the 1970s for Yves Saint Laurent - on numerous occasions, including, most recently during the royal tour of South Africa.
Despite changing into a blue, shirt dress by US label Veronica Beard later that day, Meghan stayed wearing her wedges.
Meghan was first spotted wearing the Spanish label during the tour of Australia and New Zealand that she carried out with Prince Harry in October 2018.
On day four of the tour, the mother-to-be dressed diplomatically in a sun dress by Melbourne-based designer Martin Grant.
To complete the £1,080 ensemble, she dug out her Castañer espadrilles for the first time.
Further demonstrating the shoe’s appeal, she revisited the brand once more in Fiji to accessorise a Figue pom pom maxi dress.

It may well have been Meghan’s sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, who sparked her love of the brand.
Kate has a long-lasting relationship with a beach-ready wedge and famously embarked upon her 2011 honeymoon in a pair of LK Bennett espadrilles.
She proved they’re a chic alternative to trainers while playing cricket in a pair during a visit to India in 2016.
Fast-forward to 2019 and the 37-year-old is still an espadrille fan girl.
She was pictured wearing a pair of Castañers at the 2019 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May - the perfect footwear for her Erdem dress.
Kate’s also her tan version of the shoes to support Prince William at a charity polo match, to host a children’s picnic at Hampton Court Palace’s garden festival and to meet with aspiring young photographers.
While the exact pair Kate owns doesn’t seem to still be available, there are multiple other colourways you can pick from.
If the royal stamp of approval still isn’t enough to convince you to bag a pair then it’s also worth name-dropping Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, who is another Castañer follower.
Pippa wore the comfortable, yet covetable, footwear to the French Open in 2018.
