Shanghai Junction Deserted Amid Covid Lockdown

Footage posted on April 12 showed a deserted road junction in Shanghai, as parts of the city remained locked down after nearly a month following a COVID-19 outbreak.

Chinese authorities said the city had began a partial lifting of its COVID-19 lockdown on April 12, with 7,565 communities, companies, and sites being listed as precautionary areas where the lockdown was lifted.

Residents of these areas were told to continue to remain vigilant by authorities.

The city reported 994 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 22,348 local asymptomatic infections in its latest update on Monday, April 11, a slight decline from the previous day, according to Shanghai authorities. Credit: u/5945483388 via Storyful
