I hate to break it to you, but The Godfather actually has some pretty bad ones.
"I have a soft board where everyone in my family writes and pins the funniest, strangest, and weirdest things said in our house, heard or read by us out in the world, or done by our pets. I read one every now and then as I pass the wall, and it always brightens my day."

It's certainly been an interesting start to 2023, with the stock market rallying through the first month of the year and many of the most beaten-down growth stocks doubling (or even more) from the recent lows. EPR Properties (NYSE: EPR) isn't exactly a household name, but if you like to go to the movies, play golf, ski, or go to indoor water parks, you may have been to one of the company's properties. EPR is a real estate investment trust, or REIT, that specializes in experiential properties.

S&P Global is a financial company best known as the creator of the S&P 500 index, which is widely regarded as a benchmark for the entire U.S. stock market due to its diverse nature. Last year, economic uncertainty arising from red-hot inflation and rising interest rates caused the S&P 500 to fall into a bear market, and the index is still 15% off its high. Not surprisingly, many growth stocks have fallen even more sharply, simply because growth stocks are usually valued based on future revenue and free cash flow, and those metrics tend to look quite grim during periods of economic hardship.

When devastating floods swept California last month, the community of Grayson - a town of 1,300 people tucked between almond orchards and dairy farms where the San Joaquin and Tuolumne rivers converge - survived without major damage. In the minds of some townspeople and experts, that was thanks partly to the 2,100 acres (850 hectares) of former farmland just across the San Joaquin that have been largely restored to a natural floodplain. Advocates for floodplain restoration say it can help solve California's dual dangers of flooding and drought, replenishing groundwater for future drought relief while protecting towns from the catastrophic flooding that scientists predict will come with climate change.
