Sew Happy Carnation Quilters decided at a recent meeting to assist Alliance for Child and Family Services with quilts.

During the meeting, Nora Weekley shared a need from the agency for bedding.

Following a discussion, the group voted to give its donation quilts to the organization. Approval was unanimous.

The group also unanimously voted to postpone its annual February tea until 2023.

The group’s January meeting will involve a six-month “Block of the Month” quilt called Strip Stars. Ellen Wilson is in charge of the activity, and she said there will be “fun and prizes.”

Sew Happy Carnation Quilters will have its Christmas luncheon from 11:30 to 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at Samantha’s Grill in Louisville.

During “Show and Share,” Lisa Stroup displayed a scrappy donation quilt; Pam Kuhn showed off three donation quilts and two table runners; Mary Bernower had a donation quilt; and Connie Noll showed two table runners.

Following the meeting, Bernower introduced Sue Platt, who crochets plastic grocery bags to make sleeping mats for the homeless. Platt shared how she got involved in the project, and demonstrated the steps to make a mat. Guild members then tried their hand at crocheting.

The group will not have a work day or meeting in December. The next work day is 9 a.m. Jan. 10. The next business meeting will be 10 a.m. Jan. 24 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Alliance.
