At least 3 small tornadoes reported Thursday in Kentucky during severe storms

A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect more than 30 counties in Central and South Central Kentucky on Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service's local office, including in the Louisville area, and at least three EF1 tornadoes were reported in the state.

Heavy rain and loud thunder and lightning rolled through Jefferson County and the region, with a flood advisory was also in effect until 11:15 a.m.

Up to one inch of rain was expected in Jefferson County in total and up to two inches in localized parts of the state, the weather service said.

A tornado warning was put in place south of Louisville until 9 a.m. as well, in portions of Nelson, Spencer, Anderson and Washington counties. That threat had moved east as of 9:30 a.m., but the weather service's local office confirmed later in the afternoon that three EF1 tornadoes had been confirmed throughout the day - in Mercer, Boyle and Henry counties - with surveys underway in Madison County as well.

What's the weekend forecast?

Thursday night: A chance of rain showers before 3 a.m. then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Cloudy with a low around 35. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A 20% chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy with a high near 36. Northwest wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday night: A chance of flurries before 3 a.m.. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy with a low around 27. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 41. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Low around 28 on Saturday night.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 50.
