Senators' Scott Sabourin expected to be released from hospital
Ottawa Senators forward Scott Sabourin is expected to be released from hospital Sunday after his head hit the ice in a gruesome incident against the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
Sabourin was finishing a check against Bruins forward David Backes and made incidental contact with his head, crashing to the ice face-first. The 27-year-old laid motionless on the ground for several minutes before being stretchered off the ice.
Ottawa revealed in a statement that Sabourin also fractured his nose as a result of the play.
Sabourin appears to be taking his injury in stride, posting a photo of his bruised face to Instagram on Sunday morning.
Some good news! Scott Sabourin posted on his Instagram this morning a thank you for all the well wishes and that he hopes to be back on the ice.
Don’t look at the photo if you don’t like stitches and blood etc. pic.twitter.com/jgs2upB9lY— Hailey Salvian (@hailey_salvian) November 3, 2019
Here is the play in question and we don’t necessarily recommend watching it:
