Senators' Scott Sabourin expected to be released from hospital
Ottawa Senators forward Scott Sabourin is expected to be released from hospital Sunday after his head hit the ice in a gruesome incident against the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
Sabourin was finishing a check against Bruins forward David Backes and made incidental contact with his head, crashing to the ice face-first. The 27-year-old laid motionless on the ground for several minutes before being stretchered off the ice.
Ottawa revealed in a statement that Sabourin also fractured his nose as a result of the play.
Sabourin appears to be taking his injury in stride, posting a photo of his bruised face to Instagram on Sunday morning.

Sabourin is making his NHL debut this season after several seasons in the AHL, posting a goal and an assist in 11 games with the Senators thus far.
