Self storage facility proposed for vacant property in Cranbury
CRANBURY - A self storage facility has been proposed for construction on vacant land on South Main Street.
Cranbury Self Storage LLC is seeking preliminary and final site plan approval to construct two one-story buildings, one totaling 5,250 square feet and the other totaling 4,600 square feet, which will both be used for public self-storage, and one, three story building totaling 32,000 square feet per floor for a total of 96,000 square feet, which will be used for self-storage and office space at 116 South Main St.
Landscaping and lighting will be added. The parking demand for the proposed uses is 22 parking spaces. Cranbury Self Storage proposes providing 14 parking spaces now. Eight additional green spaces included in the application are reserved for providing additional parking in the future. When, and if, the additional eight parking spaces are needed and constructed, the parking demand would be satisfied.

The approximately 9.36 acre property is currently zoned General Commercial (GC), where the proposed uses are permitted. The property is currently vacant land, but in the past had a small residential dwelling and other buildings including a garage, shed, large storage building, and other outdoor structures, all of which were recently razed. The buildings at the property had historically been used for industrial and commercial purposes.
A remote Planning Board hearing on the application is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 2.
