Self-Portrait Gets Festive in Lunar New Year Campaign

Self-Portrait is the latest brand to gear up for the festive Lunar New Year season, launching a campaign celebrating the holiday widely celebrated in Asia.

The label's creative director has worked with British-Chinese photographer Alexandra Leese on capturing the designer's new collection, which highlights the importance of community and unity. Offered size options for women and kids, the garments take inspiration from cheongsam, also known as qipao. Dresses are splashed in a vibrant red hue, arriving in fabrics like Guipure lace, crepe and bouclé. The Bow Bag takes center stage throughout the collection, featuring a standout bow detail on the front in red, gold and silver.

"Lunar New Year is one of my favorite times of the year... It is a time for ritual, for reflection and of course for celebration," Chong shared in a press release. "Having grown up in Malaysia, I witnessed firsthand the importance of this occasion for the women in my life -- the rituals of dressing for festivities and what a special time it is for family and sisterhood. Since then, I’ve always tried to pay homage to this holiday through my work, and this year we collaborated with Alexandra Leese to capture our dedicated collection as well as the spirit, tradition and warmth of the season."

The Lunar New Year collection arrives after a buzzy year for the brand with campaigns featuring names like Bella and Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell.
