See Grambling's Garrett Urban field goal to beat Southern football, win 2021 Bayou Classic

Grambling State kicker Garrett Urban hit a 25-yard field goal to beat Southern University in the 2021 Bayou Classic on Saturday, Nov. 27.

Grambling defeated Southern 29-26.

Urban made the 25-yard field goal with two seconds remaining.

On the ensuing kickoff, a Southern player tried to throw a lateral pass, and a Grambling player recovered it to end the game.

Urban's winning field goal was his fifth made field goal of the game.

"I'm just glad my team could put me in position to do it," Urban said on the NBCSN broadcast after the game. "It means so much because coach Graves has so much trust in me, and I love this man. He's a great coach."

Terrence Graves is the Grambling State football interim head coach.

Grambling State improved to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in the Southwestern Conference. Southern University went to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in the SWAC.

After Saturday, Southern University leads the all-time series 39-34 vs. Grambling State. Southern and Grambling are now tied 24-24 all-time in the Bayou Classic.
