Warwick capital project passes

Warwick Valley: A capital project vote passed on Thursday, setting up a replacement of the all-weather track and field surface.

Shot put champ, Olympian passes away

F.D. Roosevelt: Graduate C.J. Hunter, 52, passed away Sunday in North Carolina. A shot putter, Hunter placed seventh at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and won the 1999 World Championships, but withdrew from the 2000 Atlanta Olympics with a positive drug test. Hunter and his former wife, Marion Jones, were both implicated in the BALCO scandal. The couple divorced in 2001. Hunter still holds indoor and outdoor shot put records at Penn State University. He later coached collegiately at Colorado, North Carolina and North Carolina State.
