Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced Wednesday she is bringing back the popular “Water-Winter Wonderland” license plate.

The blue plate has been reportedly requested by motorists and collectors for years, and Benson said the plate was used in 1965.

“I am proud to give Michiganders back a longtime favorite license plate,” Benson said in a news release.

The plate is available for passenger vehicles and can be purchased as a disability plate. When purchasing, a one-time $5 graphic plate fee is assessed in addition to the normal registration fees. Personalization of the plate is available, though limited to 6 digits due to the font style and size accompanying the vintage reissue.

The throwback plate is available now to order online, when purchasing a vehicle through a dealership, or when in a branch office. For more information, visit Michigan.gov/SOSPlates.

The "Water-Winter Wonderland" plate replaced its predecessor, the "Water Wonderland" plate, which was produced from 1954 to 1964. While the 1965 "Water-Winter Wonderland" plate was among the first plates made of galvanized steel, the new today's Water-Winter Wonderland plate will be made of rust-resistant aluminum and is tamper-proof, according to Michigan.gov.
