Second teen in Highway 503 crash dies at hospital

Jun. 17—A second teenaged passenger in the Monday crash on state Highway 503 near Gabriel Road died at the hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers responded to the head-on crash around 1:30 p.m., and say David Zarb, 46, crossed the center line of the highway and crashed into a southbound Mazda. Zarb was allegedly driving drunk, according to court records.

Responders pronounced a 16-year-old passenger, Ivy A. Hunt, from Napavine, dead at the scene. Harumi R. Yato and Emi L. Yato, both 15 and from Yacolt, were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Emi died Thursday morning at Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A fourth passenger in the Mazda, Danlette Yato, 66, from Yacolt, was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Zarb appeared Tuesday in Clark County Superior Court, accused of one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault. Judge Gregory Gonzales set his bail at $500,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned June 25.
