Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett is now entering his eighth year in the NFL, one of the more chiseled veterans on Seattle’s squad. The rookies and young players on the squad couldn’t ask for a better mentor as they enter the league.

“Yeah, so Tyler is a very great player,” first-year receiver Bo Melton said during his Wednesday press conference. “He’s smart, you see him on the field. He critiques us. Even in the film room, I talk to him a lot and just nit-pick because he’s been a very good player for a lot of years.

“So, just having him on the field and just watching him, it helps us as players and helps the whole receiver room get better.”

The Seahawks selected Melton in the seventh round of this year’s draft out of Rutgers. He’s eagerly anticipating his first preseason matchup.

“Just looking to have a great game along with the guys,” Melton said. “Going out there, you want to compete. That’s all we talk about in this program is competition so just want to go out there and have a good time and be prepared to play.”
