Division II Sectional Final Baseball

Ontario 10, Lima Shawnee 0

The Ontario Warriors picked up a Division II sectional championship on Friday beating Lima Shawnee 10-0.

Colten Ramion led the way with three hits while Carter Weaver, Gage Weaver and Chase Studer had two hits apiece and Braxton Hall had one. Carter Weaver collected four RBIs in the victory while Ramion had two and Gage Weaver and Studer had one RBI apiece.

Ryan Chapman took the win on the mound with a complete-game, three-hit shutout with three strikeouts.

The Warriors improve to 15-6 and will play Columbian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Bluffton University in the district semifinals.

Celina 6, Lexington 0

The Lexington Minutemen were bounced from the Division II sectional tournament after a 6-0 loss to Celina on Friday.

Lexington ends the season at 9-14.

Mansfield Senior 7, Mansfield Christian 6

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a 7-6 victory over Mansfield Christian on Friday in regular-season action.

Quintin Little, Braylon Hess, Justin Crall and Justin Bland had two hits apiece for the Tygers while Brock Hill, Connor Nicholson and Josh Malone had one hit apiece. Hess collected two RBIs while Malone, Crall and Dylan Pruett had one RBI apiece.

Brock Rentzel had three hits for the Flames while Landon Curtis and Ethan Bishop had two hits apiece and Ethan Byrom, Bryce Courser, Caleb Gregory, Grady Baker, Adam McLaughlin and Cale Everroad had one hit apiece. Gregory had three RBIs while Bishop, McLaughlin and Curtis had one RBI apiece.

Mansfield Christian 4, Mansfield Senior 3

The Flames preserved the split on Friday by taking Game 2 over the Tygers, 4-3.

Baker led the way with three hits while Curtis and Rentzel had two hits apiece and Everroad and Bishop had one hit apiece. Baker had two RBIs while Griffin Baker had one RBI.

Hill, Little, Hess, Graham Sanders, Braxton Hock and Malaki Stanfield all had one hit apiece. Stanfield and Hock had one RBI in the loss.

Mansfield Christian is now 6-17 while Mansfield Senior finishes out the year 3-17.

The Mansfield Christian Flames lost their Division IV sectional semifinal tournament game to Upper Scioto Valley 12-1 on Tuesday.

Brock Rentzel led the Flames with two hits while Grady Baker and Ethan Bishop had one hit apiece. Isaac Hillman had the lone RBI for the Flames.

The Flames fall to 4-16 on the season.

The Crestview Cougars took a tough 11-3 loss to Mapleton on Tuesday night in Firelands Conference play.

Sophie Durbin led the way with two hits while PJ Endicott had one hit and one RBI, Chesnie Patton had a hit and an RBI and Kaylee Hammon and Izzy Ardis had one hit apiece.

Crestview falls to 11-8 on the year.

Madison earns sectional semifinal win over Bowsher

Division I sectional semifinal baseball

Madison 13, Toledo Bowsher 6

The Madison Rams are moving on in the Division I sectional tournament thanks to a  13-6 win over Toledo Bowsher on Monday.

Jameson Myers and Ethan Glasgo led the way with two hits apiece while Gavin Cates, Zach Glasgo, Cameron Kuhn, Easton Mazak and Shaun Cains Jr. all had one hit apiece. Myers and Cates had three RBIs apiece while Kuhn had two and Seth Ohl, Rian Lunsford, Zach Glasgo, Cains Jr. and David Yockey had one RBI apiece in the win

Cates picked up the win on the mound allowing three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Madison improves to 6-18 and will travel to Perrysburg on Wednesday for a sectional championship showdown.

Baseball

Lexington 10, Mansfield Senior 0

The Lexington Minutemen wrapped up their Ohio Cardinal Conference season with a 10-0 win over Mansfield Senior on Monday.

Zion Rhodes and Braden Mumaw led Lexington with two hits apiece while Cole Pauley, Bradley Miller, Landin Goetz, Aiden Nicol, Matt Midkiff and Landon Hamilton all had one hit apiece. Mumaw had three RBIs while Hamilton had two and Rhodes, Miller, Nicol, Midkiff and Jaxon Brown had one RBI apiece.

Brock Hill, Josh Malone and Connor Nicholson all had one hit apiece for the Tygers.

Mansfield Senior falls to 2-15 while Lexington improves to 8-12 on the season.

Flames beat Tygers in nonconference clash

Mansfield Christian 12, Mansfield Senior 2

The Mansfield Christian Flames picked up a nice nonconference win over Mansfield Senior on Saturday 12-2.

Noel Cline led the way for Mansfield Christian with four hits while Elisa McFadden had three and Isabel Golias, Courtney Kissinger and Abby Heininger had two apiece. Cline had two doubles to go with three RBIs while Kissinger had two and McFadden had one.

Mary Golias picked up the win in the circle allowing two runs on four hits with six strikeouts.

Hannah Nolen, Meredith Heckert, Trinity Withrow and Leahana Schaub had one hit apiece for the Tygers. Schaub had both RBIs.

Mansfield Senior falls to 0-18 while Mansfield Christian is now 3-12 on the season.

Plymouth 9, Crestview 5

The Plymouth Big Red earned a 9-5 Firelands Conference victory over Crestview on Saturday.

Chloe Trine led the way with four hits while Lilly Sparks had three, Makenzie Back and Aryssa Horne had two apiece and Bree Fellows, Jaylin Branham, Aliya Echelbarger and Ashlee Steward had one hit apiece. Horne and Sparks had two RBIs while Fellows, Kaela Plank, Branham, Echelbarger and Steward had one RBI apiece. Horne and Branham had one home run apiece.

Back picked up the win in the circle for the Big Red allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits with 10 strikeouts.

Mary Leeper led the way for Crestview with two hits while Sophie Durbin, PJ Endicott, Chesnie Patton, Kalee Hamman, Tarynn Eagle, Kylie Owens and Autumn Martin had one hit apiece. Leeper collected two RBIs while Endicott and Hamman had one apiece. Leeper belted a home run in the loss.

Crestview falls to 11-7 while Plymouth improves to 12-9 on the season.

Clear Fork 7, Pleasant 6

The Clear Fork Colts earned a win in their MOAC finale on Saturday by beating Pleasant 7-6.

Trinity Cook had herself a day with four hits while Ashtynn Roberts, Andrea Swainhart and Parker Swihart had two hits apiece and Pacey Chrastina, Macy Ousley, Katrina Rogers and Baylee Shoemaker had one hit apiece. Shoemaker had two RBIs while Swihart, Chrastina, Swainhart and Tate Swihart had one RBI apiece in the win.

Roberts earned the win in the circle allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits with six strikeouts in six innings of relief work.

Clear Fork improves to 15-7 on the season.

Lucas 8, Western Reserve 1

The Lucas Cubs earned an 8-1 nonconference victory over Western Reserve on Saturday.

Andrew Smollen earned the win on the mound with 17 strikeouts.

Lucas improves to 12-9 on the season.

Upper Sandusky 2, Lexington 0

The Lexington Minutemen dropped a tough nonconference game to Upper Sandusky on Saturday falling 2-0.

The Minutemen were no-hit in the contest.

Lex falls to 7-12 on the season.

Northmor 13, Clear Fork 12

The Clear Fork Colts took a tough 13-12 loss to Northmor on Saturday in nonconference action.

Jared Scott led the way with three hits while Luke Schlosser, Jay Jackson and David Ballinger had two hits apiece and Kaleb Hollar and Aaron Brown had one hit apiece in the loss. Hollard had four RBIs while Ballinger had three and Scott and Brown had two apiece. Hollar belted a home run.

The Colts fall to 10-13 on the season.

Rittman 9, Mansfield Christian 4

The Mansfield Christian Flames took a tough 9-4 nonconference loss to Rittman on Saturday.

Landon Curtis and Adam McLaughlin led the way with two hits apiece for the Flames while Isaac Hillman, Ethan Bishop and Bryce Courser had one hit apiece. Curtis and Grady Baker had one RBI apiece for the Flames.

Mansfield Christian falls to 4-15 on the season.

Madison's Lyons ties state record in sectional title win

Friday, May 13

Division II Sectional Final Softball

Madison 21, Mansfield Senior 0

The Madison Rams picked up a Division II sectional championship with a convincing 21-0 win over Mansfield Senior on Friday.

Bailey Lyons made history tying the OHSAA softball record for most home runs in an inning when she blasted two homers in the fourth inning, a two-run and three-run blast, to tie the record. Kyleigh Reiter led the way with four hits while Kendyll Kershner and Bri Bowles had three apiece, Emily Nolan and Lyons had two apiece and Olivia Schulz, Hope Barrett, Ashley Markley and Reagan Hayes had one hit apiece. Bowles and Lyons had five RBIs apiece while Reiter and Schulz had two RBIs and Markley and Hayes had one apiece. Lyons had two home runs while Bowles and Schulz had one home run apiece.

Lyons also earned the win in the circle spinning a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Madison is now 12-10 on the season and will play Lexington at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in Willard in the Division II district semifinals.

Lexington 7, Galion 1

The Lexington Lady Lex picked up a Division II sectional championship with a 7-1 win over Galion on Friday.

Jillian Bammann and Jillian Morr led the way with two hits apiece while Kylie Galownia, Sarah Branham, Kaylie Eichorn, Emily Winters and Emma Moeglin had one hit apiece. Bammann had three RBIs while Morr and Winters had two apiece in the win.

Bammann picked up the win in the circle allowing one run on four hits with nine strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Lexington improved to 19-4 and will play Lexington at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in Willard in the Division II district semifinals.

Bellevue 1, Shelby 0 F/10

The Shelby Whippets gave it everything they had in their Division II sectional semifinal game with Bellevue but came away with a 1-0 loss in 10 innings.

Maggie Bogner, Mallary Gundrum and Demi Hipp all had two hits apiece while Lexi Thompson and Sadie Smith had one hit apiece.

Lexi Booker threw the game of her life allowing just one run on three hits with seven strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings of work.

Shelby ends the year 12-11.

Clear Fork 4, Ontario 3

Softball

Madison 23, Mansfield Senior 2

In a resumed game from earlier in the season, Madison picked up a 23-2 victory over Mansfield Senior to complete the regular season.

Olivia Schulz had three hits while Aubrey Hoffman, Bri Bowles, Kyleigh Reiter, Reagan Hayes and Emma Stankovich had two hits apiece and Hope Barrett, Emily Nolan, Bailey Lyons and Courtney Ousley had one hit apiece. Barrett had three RBIs while Schulz and Reiter had two apiece and Nolan, Ashley Markley, Hoffman, Bowles, Ousley, Lyons, Stankovich and Hayes had one apiece.

Madison is now 12-10 on the season.

The Mansfield Senior Tygers picked up their second win of the season beating Crestline 10-0 on Friday.

The Clear Fork Colts picked up a nice 8-1 MOAC win over Ontario on Friday.

Aaron Brown led the way with three hits while Luke Schlosser and Kaleb Hollar had two hits apiece and Jared Scott, David Ballinger, Kaden Riddle and Aiden Perry had one hit apiece. Schlosser had three RBIs while Ballinger had two and Scott had one.

Schlosser took the win on the mound allowing one run on six hits with nine strikeouts in seven inning of work.

Peyton Dzugan, Colten Ramion, Gage Weaver, Ryan Chapman, Chase Studer and Jayden Leach had one hit apiece for Ontario while Chapman recorded the lone RBI.

Ontario falls to 13-6 and Clear Fork improves to 10-12 on the season.

Plymouth 11, Margaretta 1

The Plymouth Big Red picked up a solid nonconference win over Margaretta on Friday winning 11-1.

Zeth Goth led the way with three hits while Zach Hamman, Nick Roberts, Trace McVey and Cole Wentz has two apiece and Ethan Gillum, Shae Sparks and Clayton Miller had one hit apiece. McVey collected five RBIs on the night while Wentz had two and Goth and Miller had one apiece.

McVey also earned the win on the mound allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Plymouth improves to 15-7 on the season.

Medina Buckeye 9, Madison 2

The Madison Rams took a tough 9-2 nonconference loss to Medina Buckeye on Friday.

Gavin Cates, Rian Lunsford and Jarrett Mandusic led the way with two hits apiece while Seth Ohl, Ethan Glasgo and Zach Glasgo had one hit apiece. Cates collected two RBIs in the loss.

Madison falls to 5-18 on the season.

Plymouth wins sectional championship behind Back's 17 ks

Plymouth 6, Seneca East 0

The Plymouth Big Red earned a Division IV sectional championship win over Seneca East on Thursday winning 6-0.

Bree Fellows and Makenzie Back led the way with two hits apiece while Kaela Plank, Jaylin Branham, Chloe Trine and Aliya Echelbarger had one hit apiece. Fellows, Back, Trine and Aryssa Horne all had one RBI apiece in the win.

Back picked up the victory with a three-hit, complete-game shutout with 17 strikeouts.

Plymouth improves to 10-9 on the season.

Mansfield Christian 15, Genoa Christian 13

The Mansfield Christian Flames earned a nice nonconference win over Genoa Christian on Thursday winning 15-13.

Isabel Golias led the way with four hits while Courtney Kissinger had three and Sarah Heininger had two. Mary Golias took the win in the circle working all seven innings allowing seven hits with seven strikeouts.

The Flames improve to 2-10 on the season.

Highland 15, Clear Fork 1

The Clear Fork Colts dropped a tough MOAC matchup to Highland on Thursday falling 15-1.

Trinity Cook and Ashtynn Roberts both had two hits apiece while Renee Anders and Pacey Chrastina had one hit apiece. Roberts had the lone RBI on the night.

Clear Fork falls to 13-7 on the season.

Lucas 15, Mansfield Christian 0

The Lucas Cubs dominated in their final regular season game of the year topping Mansfield Christian 15-0 in MBC play.

Gavin Bichsel, Andrew Fanello and Andrew Smollen all had two hits apiece while Bobby Grover, Hunter Church, Connor Rice, Brayden Spitler and Gabe Porter had one hit apiece. Smollen collected three RBIs while Bichsel and Hunter Rice had two RBIs apiece and Grover, Fanello, Church, Connor Rice and Porter all had one RBI apiece.

Connor Rice took the win on the mound with a five-inning, one-hit shutout with five strikeouts in five innings of work.

Adam McLaughlin had the lone hit for the Flames.

Mansfield Christian falls to 4-13 while Lucas improves to 11-9.

Ontario 11, Marion Harding 4

The Ontario Warriors collected a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over Marion Harding on Thursday winning 11-4.

Gage Weaver had a big day at the plate with three hits while Colten Ramion and Ryan Chapman had two hits apiece and Petyon Dzugan, Carter Walters, Carter Weaver, Drew Yetter, Braxton Hall and Jayden Leach had one hit apiece. Gage Weaver had two RBIs while Dzugan, Jacob Barabani, Walters, Yetter and Hall had one RBI apiece for a balanced effort.

Carter Weaver took the win on the mound allowing four runs, none earned, on five hits with nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings of work.

Ontario improves to 13-5 on the season.

The Lexington Minutemen posted a shutout win over Madison for the second consecutive day winning 3-0.

Cole Pauley led Lex with two hits while Chance Basilone, Zion Rhodes, Braden Mumaw, Bradley Miller and Landon Hamilton all had one hit apiece. Mumaw, Pauley and Hamilton had one RBI apiece for the Minutemen.

Colton Murfield earned the win on the mound with a complete-game shutout allowing five hits with 11 strikeouts.

Jameson Myers led Madison with two hits while Gavin Cates, Dylan Mapes and Zach Glasgo had one hit apiece.

Seth Ohl pitched well for Madison allowing three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in seven innings.

Madison falls to 5-17 while Lex improves to 8-11.

Ontario wins first softball league title in 22 years

Ontario 5, River Valley 1

The Ontario Warriors clinched at least a share of the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference championship with a -1 win over River Valley on Tuesday night. It is the Warriors' first league championship in 22 years.

Eden Howard and Autumn Taylor both had three hits apiece while Joslynne Frazier had two hits and Trista Jewell, Kylie Snow and Olivia Kreger had one hit apiece. Taylor had two RBIs while Jewell, Frazier and Alex Switaj had one apiece.

Frazier earned the win in the circle allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts.

Ontario improves to 11-5 on the season.

Lexington 5, Madison 1

The Lexington Lady Lex picked up a nice OCC win over Madison on Tuesday winning 5-1.

Jillian Morr led Lexington with two hits while Kylie Galownia and Kaylie Eichorn had one apiece. Eichorn and Eyan Underwood had one RBI apiece in the win.

Galownia picked up the win in the circle allowing one run on five hits with three strikeouts in seven innings.

Bri Bowles led the Rams with three hits while Emily Nolan and Olivia Schulz had one hit apiece. Bowles had the lone RBI in the loss.

Bailey Lyons took the loss in the circle despite pitching well enough to win. She allowed five runs, just two were earned, on four hits with eight strikeouts.

Madison falls to 10-9 while Lexington improves to 17-4.

Division II Sectional Semifinals

Shelby 11, Columbian 1

The Shelby Whippets dominated in their sectional tournament opener beating Tiffin Columbian 11-1 in five innings.

Curtis Collected four RBIs while Bishop had three and Hillman, McLaughlin, Brock Rentzel and Gregory had one RBI apiece.

Curtis picked up the win on the mound allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in three innings while Courser closed things out allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts in two innings.

Mansfield Christian improves to 5-12 on the season.

The Lexington Minutemen picked up a nice 1-0 win over Madison on Tuesday in OCC play.

Zion Rhodes led Lex with two hits while Braden Mumaw and Landin Goetz had one hit apiece. Mumaw had the lone RBI of the night.

Cole Pauley picked up the win on the mound with a complete-game, one-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Jameson Myers picked up the only hit for the Rams. Gavin Cates took the loss despite pitching well allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts.

Crestview 7, Plymouth 2

The Crestview Cougars picked up a solid 7-2 Firelands Conference win over Plymouth on Tuesday to keep their league championship hopes alive.

Hunter George, Jarek Ringler, Mason Runger and Tyson Ringler all had one hit apiece while George, Tyson Ringler, Brennan Fulk and Klint Patton had one RBI apiece in the win.

Mason Ringler took the win on the mound allowing just two hits with 10 strikeouts.

Zeth Goth had the only two hits of the day for the Big Red and collected two RBIs in the process. He took the loss allowing seven runs on four hits with six strikeouts.

Plymouth falls to 12-7 on the season while Crestview improves to 12-7.

The Clear Fork Colts dropped an MOAC game to Highland on Tuesday falling 5-2.

Luke Schlosser, Jay Jackson, David Ballinger, Aaron Brown and Kasey Swank all had one hit apiece for the Colts. Ballinger had the lone RBI.

Cole Pauley and Bradley Miller led the way with two hits apiece while Chance Basilone, Zion Rhodes, Braden Mumaw, Landon Hamilton and Landin Goetz had one hit apiece. Mumaw, Pauley and Goetz had one RBI apiece in the win for Lexington.

Goetz worked the first six innings allowing two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts while Miller closed things out with the save allowing one hit with one strikeout.

Lexington improves to 6-11 overall.

Madison 5, Clear Fork 1

The Madison Rams took home a nice 5-1 nonconference win over Clear Fork on Monday night.

Jameson Myers led the way with two hits while Seth Ohl, Rian Lunsford, Ethan Glasgo and Zach Glasgo had one hit apiece. Myers had two RBIs while Zach Clasgo and Cameron Kuhn had one RBI apiece.

Ethan Glasgo picked up the win on the mound allowing one run on four hits with no strikeouts in six innings of work. Lunsford picked up the save allowing one hit in one inning.

Kaden Riddle led the Colts with two hits while Jay Jackson, Luke Schlosser and Kaleb Hollar had one hit apiece. Braylon McCoy had one RBI in the loss.

The Colts fall to 9-9 while Madison improves to 5-15.

Shelby 3, Lucas 2

The Shelby Whippets escaped with a 3-2 win over Lucas in nonconference action on Monday.

Blaine Bowman, Jeremy Holloway, Marshall Shepherd, Luke Shepherd, Kam Wheeler and Nic Eyster all had one hit apiece for the Whippets. Holloway, Marshall Shepherd and Eyster had one RBI apiece in the win as the Whippets scored two runs over the final two innings to steal the win.

Eyster tossed a complete game allowing two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.

Andrew Fanello, Andrew Smollen, Hunter Church and Brayden Spitler had one hit apiece for the Cubs. Spitler collected both RBIs.

Smollen took the loss despite a strong performance allowing three runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

Pacey Chrastina led the way with two hits while Trinity Cook, Tate Swihart, Ashtynn Roberts, Macy Ousley and Renee Anders had one hit apiece. Chrastina had two RBIs while Cook and Anders had one apiece. Cook clubbed her first career home run.

Roberts picked up the win in the circle with a complete game. She allowed one unearned runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts.

The Plymouth Big Red kept their Firelands Conference title hopes alive with a 6-2 win over Crestview on Monday night.

Chloe Trine and Bree Fellows led the way with two hits apiece while Kaela Plank, Mackenzie Back and Aryssa Horne had one hit apiece. Horne collected three RBIs while Trine and Back had one apiece. Horne belted a home run for the Big Red.

Luke Shepherd and Kennard had three RBIs apiece while Bowman had two and Bruskotter and Greenwood had one apiece.

The Lexington Lady Lex picked up a huge OCC win over Mount Vernon 2-1 on Wednesday to keep their league championship hopes alive.

It was Sydni Clever’s double in the top of the eighth that led to her scoring the winning run after advancing to third on a groundout and scoring on a wild pitch for the game-winner. Jillian Bammann had two hits while Eyan Underwood, Kaylie Eichorn, Clever and Emma Moeglin had one hit apiece. Moeglin had the lone RBI in the victory.

Bammann picked up the win in the circle tossing eight sensational innings allowing just one run on six hits with three strikeouts.

Lexington improved to 15-3 on the season.

In a huge Firelands Conference battle, the Plymouth Big Red made things interesting in the overall standings with a 10-3 win over South Central on Saturday.

Trace McVey led the way with two hits while Nick Roberts, Zeth Goth, Ethan Gillum, Shae Sparks and Clayton Miller all had one hit apiece. Roberts and Miller collected two RBIs apiece while Zach Hamman, McVey, Cole Wentz and Sparks had one RBI apiece.

Goth earned the win on the mound allowing two runs on two hits with nine strikeouts while Miller picked up the 6-out save allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout.

In Game 2, Shelby beat River View 14-4 as they completed the sweep with 27 total runs.

Kyleigh Reiter, Emma Stankovich and Bailey Lyons had two hits apiece while Emily Nolan, Olivia Schulz and Bri Bowles all had one hit apiece. Stankovich had three RBIs while Reiter had two and Lyons had one. Reiter belted a home run in the victory.

In their second game of the Prebis, Madison cruised to an 11-0 victory over Notre Dame Academy.

Schulz led the way with three hits while Reagan Hayes had two and Reiter and Bowles had one apiece. Schulz collected five RBIs for the day with a home run to go with her two doubles while Reiter, Bowles, Bayleigh Auflick and Aubrey Hoffman had one RBI apiece.

Layla Azmoun picked up the win in the circle with a dominating one-hit, compete-game shutout with five strikeouts.

It took 12 innings, but the Lexington Lady Lex finished off a Game 1 of 2 with a 2-1 victory over River Valley on Saturday.

It was Kylie Galownia’s RBI single in the top of the 12th that put Lex ahead once and for all. She, Eyan Underwood and Sydni Clever led the way with two hits apiece while Cameryn Campbell, Jillian Morr, Kaylie Eichorn and Emily Winters all had one hit apiece. Galownia and Clever had one RBI apiece in the win.

Jillian Bammann earned the win in the circle working the final eight innings allowing no runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.

Lexington 2, River Valley 1

In Game 2 of the doubleheader, Lexington earned another 2-1 win as the teams decided to play a five-inning game after the 12-inning marathon.

Bammann, Clever and Grace Miller had one hit apiece while Bammann had the lone RBI in the win.

She also earned the win in the circle allowing just one run on five hits with six strikeouts.

The Clear Fork Colts used a three-run seventh inning to pick up a 5-3 nonconference win over Norwayne on Friday.

Nate Lind led the way with two hits while Luke Schlosser, Jared Scott, David Ballinger and Braylon McCoy added one hit apiece. Schlosser, Aaron Brown, Scott, Ballinger and Lind all had one RBI apiece.

Schlosser worked the first four innings on the mound allowing two runs, none earned, on three hits with seven strikeouts while Ballinger closed things out with the win over the final three innings allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts.

The Lucas Cubs clinched at least a share of the Mid-Buckeye Conference championship with an 11-6 win over Loudonville on Thursday night.

Hunter Church was the winner on the mound going 6 1/3 innings allowing six runs with 10 strikeouts.

Andrew Fanello had a double and scored a run while Andre Smollen added a single, two RBIs and a run scored. Church scored two runs and also had one hit while Hunter Rice had two hits, two RBIs and one run scored. Gavin Bichsel scored a pair of runs and had one hit while Brayden Spitler had two hits and one run scored with an RBI. Gabe Porter collected two hits with three RBIs out of the nine-hole. Patrick Bichsel and Bobby Grover both had one RBI apiece.

Lucas improves to 6-6 and can clinch the outright MBC title on Monday at Mansfield Christian.

The Crestview Cougars picked up a tough nine-inning walk off Firelands Conference win over Western Reserve on Thursday winning 3-2.

Owen Barker led the way offensively with three hits including a double while Gavin Barker had a double of his own. Owen Barker, Mason Ringer and Tyson Ringer all had one RBI apiece. Owen Barker’s ninth-inning RBI base hit plated Hunter George to give the Cougars the dramatic victory.

Mason Ringler worked the first seven innings allowing just two runs with 11 strikeouts. Tyson Ringler earned the win working the final two innings and striking out two.

Crestview is now 7-6 on the season.

The Shelby Whippets suffered a walk off loss to Upper Sandusky on Thursday in nonconference play, 3-2.

Chase Studer knocked in the winning run on a single to right field with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Warriors to victory. Jake Chapman and Carter Walters had two hits apiece while Peyton Dzugan, Drew Yetter and Studer had one hit apiece. Studer collected the only RBI of the night.

Ryan Chapman earned the win on the mound allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits with 12 strikeouts in eight innings of work.

The Mansfield Senior Tygers used two runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull off a nonconference win over Mansfield Christian on Monday evening, 9-8.

Mike Crimm and Brock Hill led the way with three hits apiece while George Goad, Connor Nicholson and Malaki Stanfield added two hits apiece and Quintin Little, Josh Malone, Dylan Bruett and Ross Pruittmiller had one hit apiece for the Tygers. Pruittmiller and Stanfield collected two RBIs apiece while Little, Goad, Hill and Nicholson had one RBI apiece in the win.

Isaac Hillman led the Flames with three hits while Landon Curtis had two and Brock Rentzel, Griffin Baker, Ethan Bishop, Cale Everroad, Caleb Gregory and Adam McLaughlin had one hit apiece. Hillman had two RBIs and Bishop, Everroad, Curtis and Bryce Courser collected one RBI apiece.

Macy Ousley led the way with three hits while Trinity Cook, Tate Swihart, Katrina Rogers and Pacey Chrastina had two hits apiece and Ashtynn Roberts, Renee Anders, Morgan Shafer and Alyssa Swank had one hit apiece. Shafer and Chrastina had two RBIs apiece and Roberts, Ousley, Anders and Swank had one RBI apiece in the win.

Roberts was sensational in the circle with a six-inning no-hitter as she struck out six.

The Shelby Whippets suffered a narrow loss on Saturday falling to Edison 3-2 in nonconference action.

Back faced just 22 batters, one more than the minimum for a seven-inning game, striking out 15 and walking one in a near perfect game. She also led the way at the dish with two hits and three RBIs including a home run for the second consecutive game. Bree Fellows and Chloe Trine added two hits apiece while Kaela Plank and Cailynn Bailey had one hit apiece. Plank had four RBIs to go with Back’s three.

Plymouth is now 6-4 on the season.

The Crestview Cougars completed the season sweep against Monroeville on Friday winning 5-3 in Firelands Conference action.

The Shelby Whippets walked it off against Highland in a huge Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference battle on Thursday.

With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Luke Shepherd ripped an RBI base hit to right field to score Blaine Bowman for the game-winning run in dramatic fashion. Shepherd had three hits on the evening while Jeremy Holloway also added three himself. Marshall Shepherd had two hits while Bowman, Alex Bruskotter and Landon Kennard had one apiece. Holloway had two RBIs as both came in the bottom of the sixth with the Whippets trailing 5-3 and tied the game with one swing. Bowman, Luke Shepherd, Kennard, Doran Steele and Brock Greenwood collected one RBI apiece in the win.

Bruskotter took the win on the mound working a scoreless ninth inning while Kennard started the game going six strong allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts.

The Whippets improved to 7-3 on the season.

The Plymouth Big Red earned the series sweep topping New London in Firelands Conference action on Thursday winning 9-2.

The Plymouth Big Red picked up a nice 9-4 win in extra innings over New London on Thursday night in Firelands Conference action.

Makenzie Back led the way offensively with three hits while Kaela Plank, Chloe Trine and Jaylin Branham had two hits apiece and Caitlyn Bailey had one hit. Back had three RBIs with a home run while Trine had two RBIs and Bailey had one to round out the offense. Back’s homer came in the Top of the ninth on a three-run blast.

Back was sensational in the circle. She allowed four runs, none earned on four hits with an amazing 23 strikeouts in nine innings of work. She threw 176 pitches with 109 going for strikes.

Plymouth improved to 5-4 on the year.

The Lexington Lady Lex continued their winning ways by beating Fredericktown 5-2 in nonconference action on Thursday.

Kaylie Eichorn led the way with three hits while Camryn Campbell, Kylie Galownia, Jillian Bammann, Jillian Morr, Sydni Clever and Emily Winters had one hit apiece. Eichorn and Emma Moeglin collected two RBIs apiece while Morr added one in the win.

Mary Leeper collected a hit while scoring a run and adding a stolen base while Kaylee Hamman had a hit and an RBI. Holly Collet also had a hit and an RBI in the win.

The Ontario Warriors continued their quest for an MOAC championship with an 8-0 win over Galion on Wednesday.

Colten Ramion, Gage Weaver, Braxton Hall and Chase Studer all had three hits apiece while Drew Yetter had two and Peyton Dzugan and Ryan Chapman had one apiece. Chapman had two RBIs while Studer, Dzugan and Weaver had one RBI apiece.

Chapman earned the win on the mound with a four-hit, complete-game shutout. He struck out seven on his way to the win.

The Warriors improve to 5-2 on the season.

The Lucas Cubs picked up a nice win over Crestview in nonconference action 9-4 on Wednesday.

Andrew Smollen earned the win on the mound tossing a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

The Clear Fork Colts took a tough Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference loss to Pleasant on Wednesday falling 7-3 behind five Spartan runs in the top of the seventh.

Kaleb Hollar, Jared Scott, David Ballinger and Ty Sellers all had one hit apiece while Scott, Ballinger and Jay Jackson had one RBI apiece. Scott worked the first 5 2/3 innings allowing just two runs on two hits with nine strikeouts.

The Colts fall to 6-2 on the year.

Ashland 5, Madison 0

Wooster 18, Mansfield Senior 0

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough 18-0 OCC loss to Wooster on Wednesday.

George Goad collected the lone hit for the Tygers.

The Shelby Whippets were shut out by Highland in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday falling 6-0.

Blaine Bowman and Jeremy Holloway had the only two hits for Shelby.

Trojans hand Cougars first FC loss

The South Central Trojans handed the Crestview Cougars their first Firelands Conference loss of the season on Tuesday in a 9-2 decision.

Olivia Hudson, Kyrstin Hamons, Annie Cook and Lydia Chaffee all had two hits apiece for the Trojans while Kaylee Richards, Hannah Ayers, Maddy Prater and Emalee Richards had one hit apiece. Chaffee had three RBIs for the game while Ayers had two, Kaylee Richards and Hudson had one apiece.

Prater took the win in the circle allowing just two runs, none earned, on two hits with 13 strikeouts.

The Cougars received one hit apiece from Mary Leeper and PJ Endicott as they each scored a run as well. Sophie Durbin walked twice and had a stolen base in the loss.

South Central improves to 9-2 on the year while Crestview falls to 5-4.

The Lexington Lady Lex put up an impressive performance in Game 1 of a doubleheader with Colonel Crawford winning 11-3.

Camryn Campbell, Jillian Bammann, Jillian Morr, Sydni Clever, Kaylie Eichorn and Emma Moeglin had two hits apiece while Kylie Galownia and Eyan Underwood had one hit apiece. Eichorn had two RBIs while Bammann, Morr, Underwood, Clever and Moeglin had one RBI apiece.

Bammann picked up the win in the circle allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Lexington 13, Colonel Crawford 3

In Game 2, Lady Lex was just as impressive picking up a 13-3 win to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Bammann and Underwood had three hits apiece while Clever and Moeglin had two apiece and Campbell, Galownia, Morr and Emily Winters had one hit apiece. Bammann, Underwood and Moeglin had two RBIs apiece while Campbell, Galownia, Morr, Clever and Winters had one apiece.

Galownia earned the win in the circle allowing three runs on nine hits with six strikeouts in six innings of work.

Lexington improves to 7-1 on the season.

Wapakoneta 4, Lexington 3

For the second consecutive game, the Lexington Minutemen took a walk-off loss in nonconference play this time 4-3 to Wapakoneta on Saturday.

Chance Basilone and Braden Mumaw had one hit apiece while Mumaw had two RBIs and Cole Pauley had one in the loss.

The Minutemen are now 1-7 on the season.

Lucas 6, New London 1

The Lucas Cubs used a dominant pitching performance from Hunter Church and the home run ball to knock off New London 6-1 on Friday in nonconference action.

Church cruised through the Wildcat lineup tossing seven innings allowing just one run, unearned, with 13 strikeouts. Church, Andrew Smollen and Hunter Rice all launched home runs in the victory.

The Cubs are now 2-5 on the season.

Clear Fork 3, Lexington 2

The Clear Fork Colts earned a walk-off victory over Lexington in nonconference action winning 3-2 on Friday.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, David Ballinger ripped an RBI single with the bases loaded scoring Nate Lind to send the Colts off with the dramatic win. Ballinger and Luke Schlosser led the way with a pair of hits while Kaleb Hollar, Kaden Riddle and Lind both had one hit apiece. Hollar and Ballinger both had one RBI apiece for the Colts.

Aiden Nicol led the Minutemen with two hits while Chance Basilone, Cole Pauley, Bradley Miller, Jaxon Brown and Matt Midkiff had one hit apiece. Midkiff and Nicol had one RBI apiece in the loss.

The Colts improve to 6-1 on the season and Lexington falls to 1-6 on the year.

Shelby 18, Madison 3

The Shelby Whippets finally saw the bats come alive in an 18-3 win over Madison on Friday afternoon in nonconference play.

Jeremy Holloway led the way with four hits while Alex Bruskotter, Marshall Shepherd, Luke Shepherd, Landon Kennard and Kam Wheeler had two hits apiece and Blaine Bowman, Brock Greenwood and Tanner Hartz had one hit apiece. Bruskotter, Luke Shepherd and Kennard collected three RBIs apiece while Holloway and Greenwood had two apiece and Bowman, Marshall Shepherd, Wheeler and Hartz had one apiece. Luke Shepherd drilled a home run in the win.

Casey Lantz earned the win on the mound working five innings allowing just three runs, one earned, on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Seth Ohl, Cayden Clapper and Rian Lunsford collected two hits apiece for the Rams while Dylan Mapes and Jameson Myers had one hit apiece. Clapper and Mapes had one RBI apiece in the loss.

Shelby improves to 6-2 on the season while Madison falls to 2-6.

The Lexington Lady Lex took home a win in a marathon game against Clear Fork winning 18-9 in nonconference action.

Zach Hamman, Cole Wentz and Carson Tucker led the way with two hits apiece while Nick Roberts, Trace McVey and Ethan Gillum had one hit apiece. Hamman and Tucker collected a pair of RBIs while Roberts, McVey, Wentz and Clayton Miller had one apiece.

Miller took the win on the mound working five innings allowing one run on five hits with three strikeouts in five innings of work.

The Big Red improved to 6-2 on the season.

The Madison Rams took a tough 12-2 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Mount Vernon on Thursday.

The Madison Rams took a tough Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Mount Vernon on Thursday, 12-6.

The Ontario Warriors suffered a tough 10-9 loss on opening day of the Wendy’s Classic on Thursday to St. Joseph Academy.

Joslynne Frazier led the way with three hits while Trista Jewell, Alex Switaj and Hailey Crabtree added two hits apiece and Eden Howard, Autumn Taylor and Taylor Counts had one hit apiece. Crabtree collected three RBIs while Frazier had two and Howard, Jewell and Kylie Snow had one RBI apiece.

Shelby 2, Galion 0

The Shelby Whippets picked up a dramatic 2-0 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over Galion on Tuesday winning 2-0.

The Whippets scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth when Alex Bruskotter drove in two runs on a two-RBI single for the only runs of the game. He and Marshall Shepherd had two hits apiece while Blaine Bowman and Kam Wheeler had one hit apiece. Bruskotter collected the only two RBIs on the night.

The two runs were enough for Shepherd who picked up another win on the mound in a complete-game shutout. He allowed just five hits while striking out 12 and walking two. He has allowed just two earned runs in 22 innings of work this season.

Shelby improves to 5-1 on the year.

Lucas 14, Crestline 1

The Lucas Cubs earned their first win of the season in a big way knocking off Crestline 14-1 in Mid-Buckeye Conference play.

Andrew Smollen earned the win on the mound collecting 14 strikeouts in five innings while also adding seven RBIs at the plate.

The Cubs improved to 1-5 on the year.

Lexington 10, Mansfield Senior 0

The Lexington Minutemen picked up their first win of the season defeating Ohio Cardinal Conference foe Mansfield Senior 10-0 on Tuesday.

Cole Pauley was nearly perfect on the mound for the Minutemen as he tossed a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts. Mansfield Senior had one batter reach base on an error as Pauley did not walk a batter all night.

The Minutemen also provided the run support for Pauley’s no-no as Braden Mumaw and Chance Basilone had three hits apiece, Matt Midkiff and Bradley Miller had two hits apiece and Dylan Burks had one. Basilone led the way with three RBIs while Burks and Midkiff had two apiece and Miller and Aiden Nicol rounded out the offensive night with one RBI apiece.

Quintin Little pitched well for the Tygers allowing six runs, only one was earned, on seven hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in six innings.

Lexington improves to 1-5 while Mansfield Senior is 0-5.

Crestview 10, Western Reserve 8

The Crestview Cougars picked up a nice 10-8 win over Western Reserve in Firelands Conference action Tuesday night.

Jarek Ringler and Owen Barker led the way with two hits apiece while Barker collected five RBIs with a home run in the win. Hunter George, Ringler, Gavin Barker and Brennan Fulk all had one RBI apiece.

Ringler earned the win on the mound collecting five strikeouts in four innings while Tyson Ringler worked the final three innings to pick up the save with five strikeouts.

Crestview improves to 3-5 on the year.

Loudonville 18, Mansfield Christian 6

The Mansfield Christian Flames took a tough 18-6 loss to Loudonville on Tuesday night in Mid-Buckeye Conference action.

Isaac Hillman, Cale Everroad and Ethan Bishop led the Flames with two hits apiece while Griffin Baker, Jay Sites, Jack Kelley and Caleb Gregory had one hit apiece. Hillman, Bishop Kelley and Gregory all had one RBI apiece in the loss.

The Flames fall to 1-4 on the season.

South Central 8, Plymouth 5

The Plymouth Big Red dropped their first Firelands Conference contest of the season falling to South Central 8-5 on Tuesday night.

Zeth Goth led the Big Red with three hits while Nick Roberts and Cole Wentz had two hits apiece and Shae Sparks rounded things out with one hit. Clayton Miller had three RBIs while Goth had two in the loss.

Plymouth falls to 5-2 on the year.

Mount Vernon 4, Madison 3

The Madison Rams took a tough, narrow loss to Mount Vernon on Tuesday in Ohio Cardinal Conference action, 4-3.

Jameson Myers, Seth Ohl, Cayden Clapper, Zach Glasgo, Rian Lunsford, Sam Ohl and Dylan Mapes all had one hit apiece for the Rams. Mapes had two RBIs while Clapper had one.

Seth Ohl threw well despite the loss allowing four runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.

The Rams fall to 2-4 on the year.

The Shelby Whippets continued to flex their offensive muscles with an 18-2 win over Galion on Tuesday night in MOAC play.

Sadie Smith led the way with three hits while Maggie Bogner, Lexi Booker, Kennedy Studer, Sophie Niese and Alyssa Neill all had one hit apiece. Smith had a huge day with five RBIs and a home run while Booker added three RBIs and a homer. Kendal Parsons, Bogner, Neill, Mallary Gundrum and Lexi Thompson had one RBI apiece in the victory.

Alyssa Booker earned the win in the circle allowing just two runs on five hits with five strikeouts in five innings.

The Whippets improve to 6-2 on the season.

Plymouth 2, South Central 0

The Plymouth Big Red earned a nice Firelands Conference win over South Central with a narrow 2-0 victory on Tuesday night.

Makenzie Back was the star of the night as she twirled a no-hitter. She allowed just two base runners, one on a walk and one who reached on an error, and struck out 15 batters in seven innings.

Bree Fellows, Chloe Trine and Emily Irven led the way with one hit apiece while Irven drove in the only two runs in the bottom of the third inning to give the Big Red the victory.

Plymouth improves to 4-2 on the season.

Lexington 19, Mansfield Senior 0

The Lexington Lady Lex cruised to an easy Ohio Cardinal Conference win over Mansfield Senior on Tuesday winning 19-0.

Kylie Galownia took to the circle and was untouchable tossing a five-inning no-hitter. Lady Lex committed one error behind her and she hit a batter as she struck out 13 of the 17 batters she faced and only needed 70 pitches to complete the no-no.

Her offense provided plenty of fire power as Kaylie Eichorn and Eyan Underwood collected three hits apiece while Galownia had two hits and Camryn Campbell, Jillian Bammann, Summer Branham, Emily Winters and Grace Miller had one hit apiece. Eichorn collected four RBIs while Miller and Galownia had two apiece and Campbell, Bammann, Sydni Clever and Winters had one apiece.

Lexington improves to 4-1 while Mansfield Senior falls to 0-3.

Crestview 6, Western Reserve 4

The Crestview Cougars picked up a nice Firelands Conference win over Western Reserve on Tuesday night winning 6-4.

MacKenzie Tucker led the way with three hits while Chesnie Patton had two hits and Mary Leeper, PJ Endicott, Kalee Hammann and Izzy Ardis had one hit apiece. Tucker had two RBIs while Sophie Durbin, Endicott and Ardis had one apiece.

Hammann earned the win in the circle allowing four runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.

The Cougars improve to 5-3 on the year.

The Madison Rams remained undefeated with a nice eight-inning,  nonconference win over Clyde on Saturday.

Reagan Hayes delivered the go-head run when her RBI groundout plated Kyleigh Reiter in the top of the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie. The Rams fell behind 4-0 after the first two innings before scoring three in the fifth and one in the sixth to tie it and force extra innings.

Hayes, Reiter and Emma Stankovich collected two hits apiece for the Rams while Emily Nolan, Hope Barrett and Olivia Schulz had one hit apiece. Hayes recorded two RBIs while Nolan and Sophia Parsons had one RBI apiece.

Bri Bowles earned the win in the circle as she tosses six innings of relief work allowing just two hits with four strikeouts.

Cameron Kuhn led the way with three hits while Seth Ohl, Cayden Clapper, Rian Lunsford and Dylan Mapes had two hits apiece and Jameson Myers and Gavin Cates had one hit apiece. Cates had three RBIs while Myers, Mapes and Kuhn had two apiece and Ohl, Clapper and Zach Glasgo had one apiece.

Cates took the win on the mound going four innings allowing six runs, four earned, on five hits with four strikeouts.

Tori Sauder led the way with four hits while Trinity Stickney had three, Abigail Smith had two and Maddie Boyer, Marissa Caugherty, Alyssa Shay and Kailyn Caugherty had one apiece. Sauder and Stickney had three RBI apiece while Shay and Smith had two apiece and Marissa Caugherty and Kendall Huegold had one apiece. Smith and Sauder both hit home runs.

In a continued game from Tuesday, the Lexington Lady Lex took a tough OCC loss to Ashland 11-9 on Thursday.

Jillian Morr led the way with two hits while Camryn Campbell, Kylie Galownia, Jillian Bammann, Sydni Clever, Kaylie Eichorn and Emma Moeglin had one hit apiece. Clever had three RBIs while Morr and Bammann had two RBIs apiece had Galownia had one. Bammann and Clever both hit home runs in the loss.

The Clear Fork Colts took a tough nonconference loss on Thursday to Triway on the road 11-0.

Nick Roberts and Trace McVey led the way with two hits apiece while Zach Hamman, Josh Beebe, Zeth Goth, Ethan Gillum, Cole Wentz, Canaan Slone and Clayton Miller had one hit apiece. McVey, Gillum and Wentz all had two RBIs apiece while Goth, Slone, Carson Tucker and Miller had one apiece.

In a resumed game from earlier in the week, the Lexington Minutemen took a tough Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Ashland 5-2 on Thursday.

Cole Pauley collected three hits while Braden Mumaw and Landin Goetz had one hit apiece. Aiden Nicol had the lone RBI for the Minutemen.

In Game 2 of the day, the Lexington Minutemen took another tough OCC loss to Ashland this time falling 9-8 on a walk-off hit.

Mumaw and Bradley Miller collected two hits apiece while Zion Rhodes and Dylan Burks had one hit apiece. Mumaw had two RBIs while Mike Togliatti, Rhodes, Pauley, Burks and Matt Midkiff collected one apiece.

Neill and Booker had two RBIs apiece while Gundrum, Smith, Lexi Thompson and Hipp had one RBI apiece. Gundrum smashed a home rin in the win.

Booker took the win in the circle going five innings allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

The Madison Rams picked up their first win of the season by beating Mansfield Senior 2-0 on Tuesday.

Jameson Myers and Cayden Clapper each had one hit apiece for the Rams while Myers posted the lone RBI in the win.

Seth Ohl was lights out on the mound for the Rams tossing a complete-game, two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to net the first win of the season.

George Goad and Graham Sanders had one hit apiece for the Tygers. Quintin Little pitched well enough to win going six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits with nine strikeouts.

Madison improves to 1-3 on the year while Mansfield Senior is now 0-3. They face off again on Wednesday.

Clear Fork 7, Galion 5

The Clear Fork Colts picked up an important Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over Galion on Tuesday, 7-5.

Luke Schlosser led the way with three hits while Jared Scott and Aaron Brown added two apiece and Kaleb Hollar, Braylon McCoy, David Ballinger, Ty Sellers, Aiden Perry and Nate Lind had one hit apiece. Hollar and Ballinger had two RBIs apiece while Lind, Brown and Scott added one apiece.

Kaden Riddle earned the win on the mound allowing just two runs on two hits with eight strikeouts over four innings. Schlosser picked up the save working the final two innings allowing no hits with four strikeouts.

The Mansfield Christian Flames picked up an extra-inning win over Crestline on Tuesday for a big Mid-Buckeye Conference win, 12-11.

Isaac Hillman led the way with three hits while Griffin Baker, Ethan Bishop, Grady Baker, Adam McLaughlin and Caleb Gregory collected two hits apiece and Brock Rentzel and Bryce Courser added one hit apiece. Rentzel, Courser and Hillman each had two RBIs apiece while Grady and Griffin Barker, McLaughlin and Gregory had one RBI apiece in the win.

The Flames improve to 1-2 on the season and travel to Plymouth on Thursday.

The Ontario Warriors picked up a hard-fought MOAC win over River Valley on Tuesday winning 3-1.

Gage Weaver, Carter Walters, Ryan Chapman and Drew Yetter had one hit apiece for the Warriors. Yetter and Jacob Bararbani had one RBI apiece in the win.

Chapman picked up the win on the mound allowing just one unearned run on two hits with seven strikeouts.

The Warriors improve to 2-2 and travel to RV on Wednesday.

The Plymouth Big Red picked up an 8-1 win over Western Reserve on Tuesday in Firelands Conference play.

Zeth Goth led the way with three hits while Zach Hamman had two and Ethan Gillum and Carson Tucker had one apiece. Tucker collected three RBIs while Goth had two and Gillum added one.

Cole Wentz took the win on the mound allowing just one earned run on four hits with 11 strikeouts in six innings of work. Goth closed things out with a three-strikeout seventh inning.

The Clear Fork Colts dominated their way to a 16-4 win over Galion in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play on Tuesday.

Andrea Swainhart and Macy Ousley each had three hits apiece while Morgan Shafer, Renee Anders and Katrina Rogers had two hits apiece and Makayla Crawford, Trinity Cook, Ashtynn Roberts, Alyssa Swank and Tate Swihart had one hit apiece for the balanced effort. Swainhart had four RBIs while Cook had three, Anders and Rogers had two apiece and Ousley and Shafer rounded out the offense with one RBI apiece. Anders had a home run.

The Clear Fork Colts saw an offensive explosion on Monday during a 15-0 nonconference road win over West Holmes.

Morgan Shafer and Ashtynn Roberts led the way with three hits apiece while Pacey Chrastina, Katrina Rogers and Alyssa Swainhart collected two hits apiece and Trinity Cook, Macy Ousley, Renee Anders and Baylee Shoemaker added one hit apiece to give the Colts 16 for the day. Rogers had three RBIs while Tate Swihart, Swainhart and Shafer had two RBIs apiece and Roberts, Outsley, Chrastina and Shoemaker had one apiece. Rogers hit the first homerun of her career in the win.

Roberts was dominant in the circle picking up the win. She allowed just three hits with seven strikeouts in five innings to secure the victory.

The Madison Rams picked up a nice nonconference win over Shelby in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday, 11-7.

Olivia Schulz led the way with three hits while Hope Barrett, Bri Bowles and Reagan Hayes had two hits apiece and Emily Nolan, Bailey Lyons and Emma Stankovich added one hit apiece. Lyons had three RBIs while Hayes drove in three, Nolan had two and Bowles and Schulz collected one RBI apiece. Bowles, Hayes and Lyons all had home runs in the win.

Lyons earned the win in the circle going 6 ⅔ innings allowing seven runs, three earned, on 11 hits with six strikeouts. Layla Azmoun earned the save working the final ⅓ inning with a strikeout.

Lexi Thompson led the way for Shelby with three hits while Alexis Booker and Demi Hipp added two apiece and Kendal Parsons, Maggie Bogner, Mallary Gundrum, Sadie Smith, Kennedy Studer and Alyssa Neill all had one hit apiece. Miller collected two RBIs while Zach Hamman, Roberts, Goth and Wentz had one RBI apiece.

The Shelby Whippets picked up a nice 10-0 nonconference win over Clyde on Saturday.

The Ontario Warriors walked it off on Saturday beating Wynford 9-8 in dramatic fashion.

Carter Weaver's double to deep left center drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to end it in an Ontario victory. Weaver, Peyton Dzugan, Jacob Barabani and Carter Walters each had two hits apiece while Gage Weaver, Jayden Leach and Drew Yetter had one hit apiece. Walters collected three RBIs while Chase Studer and Gage Weaver had one RBI apiece and Carter Weaver finished with one.

Carter Weaver and Yetter combined to allow eight runs, just four earned, on six hits with five strikeouts.

The Warriors improve to 1-2 and host Madison on Monday.

The Mansfield Christian Flames took a tough 11-2 loss to Delaware Christian on Saturday in nonconference action.

Lucas girls win Mike Armstrong Invite

The Lucas Cubs girls track team took home the team title at the Mike Armstrong Invitational on Saturday with 121 team points ahead of second-place Mount Gilead with 94.5.

Kyla Foss was a double-winner in the field events as she win the shot put with a throw of 29-7.50 and the discus with a throw of 100-10.50. Shelby Grover took home an individual win in the 300-hurdles with a  time of 47.04 and also took second in the 100 hurdles and 200-meter dash.

On the boys side, Grant Barrett took home the title in the discus with a throw of 141-5.50 nearly 30 feet ahead of second place. The Cubs took sixth out of eight teams.

Young breaks school record at Plymouth Invite

St. Peter's Kellen Young finished third in the shot put at the Plymouth Invite on Saturday but made history while doing it. His toss of 39-11.75 broke the St. Peter's program record.

Plymouth's Caiden Allen was a double-winner as he shared the high jump title with Layne Bushey with a leap of 6-feet while also winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.61.

They both also dominated on the mound. George got the win working six innings and striking out five while Volz picked up the save working a flawless seventh inning with a strikeout.

The Colts got their lone win of the match in the first doubles as the team of Jackson McLaughlin and Griffin Blakley topped Nate Barre and Jaxon Oehler 6-1 and 7-5 to avoid the sweep.

Galion took wins in first singles as Matt Gimble topped Ryan Peterson 6-1, 6-1, second singles as Jamie Hollis beat Josiah Bailey 6-1, 6-3, third singles as John Evans beat Jeffry Moody 6-1, 6-1 and second doubles as the team of Caden Jutz and Adam Geiger beat Clear Fork's Elaina Gandee and Zachary Hotz 6-3, 6-4.

Kelsey Snyder earned the win in the circle with a dominant performance. She allowed just one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts in five innings.

Clear Fork 7, River Valley 4

The Clear Fork Colts salvaged a split in the season series with River Valley on Wednesday beating the Vikings 7-4 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Trinity Cook led the way with two hits while Morgan Shafer, Ashtynn Roberts, Macy Ousley, Renee Anders, Pacey Chrastina and Alyssa Swank had one hit apiece. Swank collected a pair of RBIs while Cook, Shafer, Roberts and Ousley had one apiece as everyone contributed to the win.

Roberts earned the win in the circle going five innings allowing just one earned win on four hits with two strikeouts.

The Colts are 1-1 on the year and travel to Plymouth on Friday.

Lexington 12, Wooster 2

The Lexington Lady Lex continued their hot start to the season with a 12-2 win over Wooster to complete the Ohio Cardinal Conference sweep.

Kylie Galownia, Jillian Bammann and Emily Winters collected two hits apiece while Camryn Campbell, Jillian Morr, Sydni Clever, Kaylie Eichorn and Emma Moeglin had one hit apiece. Bammann and Eichorn collected three RBIs apiece while Campbell, Galownia, Clever and Winters all had one apiece. Bammann hit her second home run of the season in the win.

Galownia earned the win in the circle working all five innings allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

Lexington improves to 2-0 and hosts Perkins on Friday.

Ontario 4, Highland 1

The Ontario Warriors collected a nice 4-1 win over Highland on Wednesday in Mid-Ohio Atheltic Conference play to complete the season sweep.

Eden Howard, Joslynne Frazier and Trista Jewell collected two hits apiece while Jakiah Trammell, Autumn Taylor, Alex Switaj and Taylor Counts had one hit apiece. Howard and Frazier had two RBIs apiece to do the most offensive damage. Frazier's was on a two-run homer.

She also picked up the win in the circle allowing one run on six hits with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

The Warriors are 2-0 and host Madison on Friday in a high Richland County showdown.

Plymouth 12, Crestline 2

Loudonville 19, Crestview 3

The Crestview Cougars took a tough 19-3 loss to Loudonville on Wednesday in nonconference action.

Sophie Durbin and Mary Leeper led the way with two hits apiece while Kalee Hamman and McKenzie Tucker had one hit apiece. Leeper drove in all three runs with a 3-run homer.

Crestview is now 1-1 and hosts Lucas on Thursday.

Baseball

Clear Fork 9, River Valley 0

The Clear Fork Colts completed the season sweep of River Valley on Wednesday night beating the Vikings 9-0 in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play.

The Colts had just four hits but took advantage of seven River Valley errors to earn the league win. Jared Scott, Braylon McCoy, David Ballinger and Ty Sellers all had one hit apiece while McCoy had two RBIs and Kaleb Hollar, Luke Schlosser, Ballinger and Sellers had one RBI apiece.

Scott tossed a gem on the mound allowing just one hit through six innings with eight strikeouts. Schlosser worked the final inning allowing just one hit with a pair of strikeouts.

The Colts are 2-0 and host Loudonville on Saturday.

Plymouth 13, Crestline 1

The Plymouth Big Red picked up an easy 13-1 win over Crestline on Wednesday night in nonconference action.

Plymouth piled up 17 hits led by Nick Roberts and Ethan Gillum with three apiece, Zeth Goth, Cole Wentz and Carson Tucker with two apiece and Canaan Slone, Zach Hamman, Trace McVey, Shae Sparks and Clayton Miller with one apiece. Gillum collected four RBIs while Wentz and Roberts had three apiece and Sparks and Tucker had one apiece in the offensive explosion.

Goth earned the win on the mound going five innings allowing just one earned run on one hit with 12 strikeouts.

The Big Red is now 2-0 and hosts Hillsdale on Thursday.

Crestview 15, Loudonville 4

The Crestview Cougars picked up a nice 15-4 nonconference win over Loudonville on Wednesday in nonconference action.

Hunter George led the way for the Cougars with three hits while Mason Ringler and Matthew Volz had two hits apiece. George and Ringler had three RBIs apiece while Volz and Gavin Barker had two RBIs apiece and Owen Barker collected one.

Ringler earned the win on the mound with five strikeouts.

The Cougars are 2-0 on the year and host Lucas on Thursday.

Wynford 3, Lucas 2

Pleasant 5, Shelby 2

The Shelby Whippets were forced to split the seasons series with Pleasant on Wednesday as they took a 5-2 loss in Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Kam Wheeler led the way with two hits while Blaine Bowman, Jeremy Holloway, Alex Bruskotter and Landon Kennard had one hit apiece. Holloway and Bruskotter had one RBI apiece in the loss.

Kennard took the loss on the mound despite allowing just one earned run, five total runs, on three hits with five strikeouts in 4 ⅔ innings.

Shelby is 1-1 and hosts Clyde on Saturday.

West Holmes 4, Madison 2

The Madison Rams took a tough 4-2 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to West Holmes on Wednesday.

Gavin Cates led the Rams with three hits while Jameson Myers, Seth Ohl, Zach Glasco, Cayden Clapper, Jarrett Mandusic and Rian Lunsford had one hit apiece. Myers had the lone RBI for Madison.

Cates took the loss on the mound but pitched well enough to win allowing four runs, none earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts in 4 ⅔ innings of work.

The Rams are 0-2 and host Bellevue on Thursday.

Wooster 12, Lexington 3

The Lexington Minutemen took a tough 12-3 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Wooster on Wednesday.

Zion Rhodes, Jaxon Brown and Aiden Nicol had one hit apiece for Lex while Cole Pauley collected a pair of RBIs.

Pauley worked the first 3 ⅔ innings allowing five runs, all earned, on just one hit with six walks and seven strikeouts.

Lexington is 0-2 and hosts Perkins on Friday.

Highland 13, Ontario 5

Mount Vernon 14, Mansfield Senior 0

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough 14-0 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss to Mount Vernon on Wednesday.

Ross Pruettmiller collected the lone hit for the Tygers.

Mansfield Senior is 0-2 and hosts Orrville on Friday.

Tennis

Clear Fork 4, River Valley 1

The Clear Fork Colts earned a nice 4-1 Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference win over River Valley on Wednesday.

Ryan Peterson topped Zeke Klenzman in first singles competition 6-1 and 6-4 to kick off the day for the Colts. Jeffry Moody topped Olivia Meddles 6-0 and 6-1 in third singles while the first doubles team of Jackson McLaughlin and Griffin Blakley topped Hayden Campbell and Noah Williams 6-1 and 6-2 and the second doubles team of Elaina Gandee and Zachary Hotz beat Andrew Karrick and Jackson McKinnis 4-6, 6-1 and 6-2 to cap off the win. Josiah Bailey was defeated by Chase Osborne in a tough second single match 1-6 and 3-6.

Tompson's walk-off single paves way for Whippets' win over Pleasant

Tuesday, March 29

Baseball

Shelby 5, Pleasant 0

The Shelby Whippets picked up a solid 5-0 victory over Pleasant on Tuesday in their season and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener.

Blaine Bowman led the way offensively with three hits while Landon Kennard added two hits, and Luke Shepherd, Alex Bruskotter and Kamdyn Wheeler had one hit apiece. Bowman, Bruskotter and Tanner Hartz collected one RBI apiece for a balanced offensive night.

Marshall Shepherd was phenomenal on the mound recording a complete-game shutout allowing just one hit with eight strikeouts.

The Whippets are 1-0 to start the season and travel to Pleasant on Wednesday.

Clear Fork 9, River Valley 2

The Clear Fork Colts picked up a solid 9-2 victory over River Valley in their season and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener.

The Colts improve to 1-0 and host River Valley on Wednesday.

Plymouth 11, Colonel Crawford 3

The Plymouth Big Red picked up a nice season-opening victory over Colonel Crawford winning 11-3 in nonconference action.

Zach Hamman led the way with three hits while Trace McVey and Ethan Gillum added two hits apiece and Carson Tucker and Nick Roberts had one hit apiece. McVey drove in three runs while Gillum had two RBIs and Hamman, Zeth Goth and Cole Wentz had one apiece.

Wentz earned the win on the mound going four innings allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits with seven strikeouts for the first win of the season.

The Big Red are 1-0 and host Crestline on Wednesday.

Norwalk 1, Crestview 0

The Crestview Cougars ran into a pitcher's dual on Tuesday falling to Norwalk 1-0 in their season opener.

The Cougars were no-hit but got their own pitching gem by Jarek Ringler who struck out four and allowed just one run on four hits.

The Cougars are 0-1 and host Lucas on Thursday.

Wooster 6, Lexington 3

The Lexington Minutemen battled tough in their season opener but ultimately fell to Wooster in Ohio Cardinal Conference play 6-3.

Cole Pauley, Braden Mumaw, Bradley Miller and Jaxon Brown all had one hit apiece for the Minutemen. Miller and Brown collected one RBI apiece while Pauley scored two runs and Landon Hamilton scored once.

Lexington is 0-1 and turns around to host Wooster on Wednesday.

Highland 4, Ontario 1

The Ontario Warriors took a tough 4-1 loss to Highland in their season and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener.

Colten Ramion led the way with two hits while Carter Weaver, Ryan Chapman and Peyton Dzugan had one hit apiece. Ramion and Chapman both had doubles. Dzugan had the lone RBI for the Warriors and Drew Yetter scored their lone run.

Chapman pitched well enough to win allowing three runs, none earned, on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk in five innings. Dzugan worked one inning allowing two hits and an earned run with two strikeouts.

The Warriors are 0-1 and host Highland on Wednesday.

West Holmes 4, Madison 1

The Madison Rams took a tough 4-1 loss to West Holmes on Tuesday falling 4-1 in Ohio Cardinal Conference and season-opening action.

Cayden Clapper had the lone hit for the Rams and scored the only run on the night.

Seth Ohl pitched well enough to win working the first six innings allowing just two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.

Madison falls to 0-1 and travels to West Holmes on Wednesday.

Mount Vernon 16, Mansfield Senior 0

The Mansfield Senior Tygers took a tough 16-0 loss to Mount Vernon on Tuesday in the season opener.

Quintin Little had the lone hit for the Tygers.

Mansfield Senior is 0-1 and hosts Mount Vernon on Wednesday.

Softball

Shelby 8, Pleasant 7

The Shelby Whippets earned a dramatic win over Pleasant in their season and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener.

With the game tied at seven, Lexi Thompson's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh sent the Whippets to a walkoff win to get the season started off right. Kendall Parsons, Alyssa Neill and Demi Hipp all had three hits apiece while Sadie Smith, Thompson and Maggie Bogner had two hits apiece and Mallary Gundrum and Kennedy Studer rounded out the offense with one hit apiece. Parsons, Gundrum, Thompson, Neill, Alexis Booker, Studer and Hipp all had one RBI apiece for a well-rounded offense. Smith and Studer had doubles while Bogner added a triple.

Booker worked the first 4 ⅓ innings allowing seven runs on six hits with nine strikeouts before Snyder worked the final 2 ⅔ innings holding Pleasant scoreless with one hit and a strikeout.

Shelby improves to 1-0 in the year and travels to Pleasant on Wednesday.

Lexington 17, Wooster 0

The Lexington Lady Lex made a statement in their season and Ohio Cardinal Conference opener on Tuesday night with a 17-0 win over Wooster.

Jillian Bammann led the way with four hits while Camryn Campbell and Eyan Underwood had three apiece and Kylie Galownia, Jillian Morr, Sydni Clever, Kaylie Eichorn, Emily Winters and Emma Moeglin had one hit apiece. Bammann collected five RBIs on the day with a home run while Winters drove in three, Campbell and Underwood had two RBIs apiece and Morr and Clever finished off the day with one apiece. Underwood and Campbell had doubles while Eichorn added a triple to go with Bammann's homer.

Bammann picked up the win in the circle allowing just two hits with four strikeouts in the 5-inning shutout.

Lexington is 1-0 and hosts Wooster on Wednesday.

Ontario 4, Highland 2

The Ontario Warriors picked up a nice 4-2 victory over Highland in the season and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday.

Patton worked all seven innings allowing two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts.

The Cougars are 1-0 and host Lucas on Thursday.

River Valley 5, Clear Fork 2

The Clear Fork Colts took a tough 5-2 loss to River Valley on Tuesday in their season and Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference opener.

The Plymouth Big Red were sent home with a shutout loss in their season opener by Colonel Crawford on Tuesday in nonconference action.

Bree Fellows, Chloe Trine, Emily Irven and Jaylin Branham had one hit apiece for the Big Red. Fellows, Irven and Branham all had doubles.

Plymouth falls to 0-1 on the year and hosts Crestline on Wednesday.

Shekinah Christian 23, Mansfield Christian 13

The Mansfield Christian Flames took a tough nonconference loss to Shekinah Christian on opening day, 23-13.

Mary Golias and Isabel Golias both collected a pair of hits in the loss.

The Flames fall to 0-1 and travel to Crestline on April 5.

Tennis

Clear Fork 3, Madison 2

The Clear Fork Colts picked up a nice nonconference win over Madison in boys tennis on Tuesday afternoon.

For the Colts, Josiah Bailey topped Nate Phillips 6-4 and 6-1 in second singles while the first doubles team of Jackson McLaughlin and Griffin Blakley beat Exavier Ethel and John Keogh 6-3 and 6-0 and the second doubles team of Elaina Gandee and Zachary Hotz beat Athony Parnell and Scott Graham 4-6, 6-0 and 6-0 to pull off the match win.

For the Rams, CJ Steffey won the first singles competition over Ryan Peterson 6-1 and 6-3 while Albrey Price beat Jeffry Moody 2-6, 6-4 and 6-4 in third singles to give the Rams two nice wins.

Ontario 5, Bucyrus 0

The Ontario Warriors picked up a nice 5-0 win over Bucyrus on Tuesday in nonconference action.

Pablo Sanchez earned the 6-0, 6-1 win in first singles while Eli Selser dominated in second singles and Lance Miller in third singles as both earned 6-0, 6-0 victories. Brody Phillips and Alex Ellis won in first doubles with 6-0 and 6-1 wins while Hunter Petit and Aiden Frankhouse won in second doubles 6-0 and 6-1.

Friday, March 25

Tennis

The Ontario Warriors picked up a nice 5-0 nonconference win over Madison on Friday to kick off the season.

Pablo Sanchez Vidal won his first singles match 6-2 and 6-1 while Alex Ellis took the win at second singles 6-1 and 6-0. Nate Reid also won in third singles 6-4, 6-4 to complete the singles sweep. Brody Phillips and Aiden Frankhouse won in first doubles 6-0 and 6-0 while Canaan Wentz and Hunter Petit took the second doubles win 6-0 and 6-1.
