5 charged after crime spree that put Hilton schools on lockout
UPDATE (Nov. 30, 2021): Five individuals were arrested and charged after several car break-ins in the town of Parma on Monday morning.
Three men were arraigned in Parma Town Court on Monday evening: Tinos S. McBride, Jr, 19, Trevor D. Gulley, 18, and Trevon L. Burkett, 20.
Each was charged with 8 counts: 2 counts of second-degree burglary, four counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and 2 counts of petit larceny.
All three were remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
Two others were arrested on the same set of charges. A 17-year old was seen in Youth Court and remanded to the Onondaga Children's Detention Center. A 15-year old juvenile was released on an appearance ticket for Family Court for a later date.
Deputies said they also recovered three stolen guns as part of their investigation.
According to a spokesperson for the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, all five individuals are male and from the City of Rochester.

A burglary and larceny investigation led Monroe County sheriff's deputies to search several Hilton Central School District buses transporting students on Monday morning.
Deputies on Monday were alerted to several early morning burglaries and larcenies in the area of Collamer Road and Summertime Trail in Parma, said sheriff's office spokeswoman Amy Young.
Three nearby Hilton schools — Village Elementary, Quest Elementary and Merton William Middle School, all located within the village — were placed on a lockout Monday morning, which means no one can enter or exit the school buildings while classroom instruction continues as normal, according to school district officials. The lockouts ended by 10 a.m.
Five young people were detained in connection with the string of thefts, and deputies continue to investigate, said Capt. Dean Tuthill of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Charges are pending. One of the suspects, apprehended during an early morning foot chase, was bitten by a police dog and was taken to Unity Hospital in Greece for treatment, Young said.
Three long guns and other items were stolen from vehicles in the neighborhood. Two of the guns were recovered. Deputies also located a vehicle stolen from Henrietta.
While investigating, deputies learned that a suspect who was not a Hilton student may have boarded a Hilton school bus Monday morning.
"Out of an abundance of caution," deputies worked with Hilton district officials "to ensure no students got off the buses," Young said.
Tuthill said that deputies and New York State Police went to Hilton High School, stopped and searched all of the buses that came from that area.
Deputies determined that there was not a suspect on board any Hilton school bus at that time.
The students then left the buses and proceeded with their school day as usual, Tuthill said. District officials said that students and bus runs were held up for about 15 minutes.
District officials thanked the concerned resident who called 911 to report that a non-student may have boarded a school bus.
"We take the safety and security of our students and staff seriously and appreciate everyone's patience while the concern was fully investigated," district officials said in a statement to parents about the incident.
Deputies said that the thefts were similar to an incident reported early Sunday morning near Middle and Erie Station roads in Henrietta in which a man was "going through vehicles" in the area. In that incident, deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle but did not chase the driver as he was driving recklessly.
Deputies later located the vehicle, determined to be stolen from Brockport earlier this month, near West Henrietta Road in Rush after the vehicle crashed into a tree, Young said. The driver fled the scene but was later located in a wooded area. David Streber Jr., 36, of Rochester, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony He was arraigned in Henrietta Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail without bail.
"I think the underlying message here is...we have to lock up our cars," Tuthill said, noting that valuables were taken from multiple cars in the area. "This is a crime of opportunity."

Remove all valuables, including firearms, from your parked vehicle
Close your windows and lock your vehicle doors.
Park in a well-lit area.
Consider installing security cameras, with motion activated alerts, on your home.
Report anything out of the ordinary.
