ESCANABA — On Jan. 7, 2022, 46 student members of Sault Area Career Center’s chapter of Business Professionals of America competed at the regional competition held at Bay College in Escanaba.

After two years of canceled in-person events and virtual contests, the students were excited to compete face-to-face and network with professionals and students from across the Upper Peninsula.

Students had an opportunity to compete in different events ranging from accounting to graphic design to public speaking. Events are individual or team-based with participants learning and enhancing skills from each. Of the students who competed at the regional event, 32 students placed high enough in one or more events and are now eligible to attend the BPA State Leadership Conference taking place March 10-13, 2022, at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids.

The students who competed are enrolled in business classes at Sault Area Career Center including business administration, accounting, financial marketing, and digital business.
