Jun. 18—VERNON — The United Methodist Church at 401 Hartford Turnpike is holding a remembrance service for those who have died of COVID-19.

The service is scheduled for Saturday, June 19 at 2 p.m.

"With vaccinations helping us win the battle against COVID-19, we wish to pause and take the opportunity to remember those we have lost to the pandemic," said the Rev. Peter Schilling. "Over the past year and a half, many of us have suffered the loss of friends and family members due to the pandemic. Tragically, in many cases, we were not able to be with those loved ones at their passing because of safety and/or travel restrictions."

All members of the public are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation. The service will be outdoors, and attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair.
