Sandy Valley golfer Connor Ritter opens defense of state championship with sectional win

Sandy Valley’s Connor Ritter opened defense of his state championship with a victory on Monday.

Ritter shot 71 to earn medalist honors in the Division II boys golf tournament at River Greens. He finished four strokes ahead of Jaxon Rinkes.

Rinkes’ 75 helped lead Carrollton to the team title. The Warriors finished with a 306. Sandy Valley came in second at 328. Both teams advanced to next week’s district at Eagle Sticks.

Minerva’s Case Waller qualified for the district tournament as an individual. He fired a 77 and tied for fourth.
