Can the Saints bring out the best in Winston?

NFL Podcast: Saint Jameis and why Jalen Hurts to the Eagles will be 'Taysom Hill on steroids'

Video Transcript

TEREZ PAYLOR: If I were a core quarterback needy team, if I was in charge of one of those teams, it would concern me that Sean Payton thought enough of Jameis to sign him, and we didn't. Because you got to trust. You kind of got to trust his evaluation a little bit, and it's just like, you know, this guy is the number one overall pick.

You know Jameis is 25, right? Like he's not done getting better, and I think we talked about this too. Like he doesn't suck, like the interceptions are an embarrassment. But there have been some good quarterbacks in this league that have thrown a lot of interceptions when they were his age and ended up being pretty solid at 30, 29, you know?

You know, he's never going to be more Mahomes or anything. But can he get hot at the right time in three? Maybe, maybe.

CHARLES ROBINSON: So I'm telling you right now. They're not going to teach Jameis anything. What they're going to do is they're going to sit there and go, OK, this guy's going to come in. And it's on Jameis to go, I want to be challenged. I'm going to know the offense inside and out.

And when we get into these quarterback meetings, I better be right answer. Boom, boom, boom, we're moving. We're moving. We're moving. That's how it's going to be, and maybe that's a good thing for Jameis. Maybe it is.
