Ryan Reynolds has shared a behind-the-scenes clip from 2009 comedyThe Proposal that shows him “feuding” with Betty White.

In the hit film, White plays the grandmother of Reynolds’ character, who is pretending to be in a relationship with Sandra Bullock’s lead.

The actor remembered his time working with White in celebration of her 99th birthday, which she celebrated on Sunday (17 January).

“We made this 12 years ago,” he wrote on Instagram. "Betty turns 99 today, but she is [100 per cent] the funniest person on the planet.”

He then shared a clip that they both made in which Reynolds comedically explains to camera that White *hates* him.

White is then shown to switch off her “nice” persona to secretly treat Reynolds in a cruel manner. At one stage, she mocks him by mistaking him for an assistant called “Bryan”.

She then continues by calling the Deadpool actor a “jackass”, which prompts him to reply: “You seem like an adorable, sweet old lady on the outside, but on the inside, you’re like this seething demon.”

This attracts the attention of their oblivious fellow cast members, including Bullock. White runs over to her for consolation while slyly flipping Reynolds the finger.

The Proposal was a huge hit and grossed $317.4m (£234m) from a $40m (£29.5m) budget.
