The US considers Russia's demands that Ukraine take into account "new territorial realities" to be unacceptable and harmful to the peace negotiation process.

Quote from Blinken: "...but I think you only have to look at Putin’s own words in a recent conversation with President Erdoğan of Türkiye in which he says unless and until Ukraine accepts the new territorial realities, as he put it, there’s nothing to negotiate. [...] That of course is in and of itself a nonstarter."

Details: Blinken emphasised that the United States, together with its allies, is providing Ukraine with everything it needs to succeed in resisting Russian aggression.

"The fastest way to bring this war to a just and durable end, to get to diplomacy, to get to a negotiation, is to give Ukraine a strong hand on the battlefield. That’s exactly what we’re doing," he said.

Background: In early January, Russian President Vladimir Putin told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that the Russian Federation is open to dialogue regarding Ukraine, but Kyiv must take into account the "new territorial realities".
