A Russian junior hockey coach was fired from his role for kicking one of his players in plain view.

Vladimir Gromilin, the 56-year-old head coach of the MHL club Sarmaty Orenburg, was seen standing on the bench before delivering a swift kick to 19-year-old Jegor Razumnjak's side.

The act of violence in the workplace ended with Gromilin kicking himself out of a job, as Sarmaty Orenburg promptly fired their head coach after the incident.

Gromilin is one of the more experienced head coaches at the Russian junior level, serving as the bench boss for four different MHL clubs. Before the junior leagues were established, he was a coach for seven years in the Russian second and third divisions.

Despite that resume, Sarmaty is sitting in the bottom half of the standings as of Sunday, with their 20-26-2-1 record good for 13th in the Eastern Conference. The kick must have been the final straw for a disappointing campaign.

Who knows what’s next for the Russian junior club, but we can probably guarantee it will try to have its next head coach not kick any players.
