Russia to announce new wave of mobilization on Jan. 5 – Budanov

According to him, the Russians have huge problems both with equipping existing units due to their participation in hostilities and serious losses, and with the recruitment of new units. The enemy is already short on manpower, said Budanov.

“There are plans to (announce a new wave of mobilization) on Jan. 5. Whether they will announce it on 5th or on 9th – won’t make any difference. They will have to start a new wave of mobilization. Also taking into account the fact that the past mobilization, which they allegedly finished, did not disappear anywhere. It is ongoing, people in Russia are being mobilized for war in full swing,” said the HUR chief.

In the interview, Budanov also stated that currently neither Ukraine nor the aggressor country is able to make significant breakthroughs on the battlefield, and that Kyiv is waiting for new arms deliveries.

Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reported that Russia is preparing for the next wave of mobilization, which is planned to be held in January-February 2023. According to the Ministry of Defense, the mobilization in the Russian Federation was not as effective as expected by the command of the invasion forces.

According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the aggressor country has lost 105,250 of its soldiers, including 690 in the past day.
