'Royal mums don't feel under pressure to lose baby weight quickly'

The Duchess of Sussex has been lauded by royal fans for showcasing her post-baby figure at her recent outings.

Meghan, 37, who gave birth to baby Archie in May, has made appearances at Trooping the Colour, Wimbledon, a polo match and the Lion King premiere.

The new mum chose a black satin dress with sheer sleeves by Jason Wu for the red carpet.

The Sun’s royal correspondent Emily Andrews tells Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box:’ “I think it’s great that royal mums now feel that they can perhaps keep the baby weight and don’t feel that they’re under pressure, we hope, to lose it really quickly.”

She continues: “When Kate was pregnant, she lost the baby weight very quickly with George, Charlotte and Louis, there were those people who were really quite critical of her but I think it was just Kate’s very natural physique. She’s very sporty and some women are very lucky, in that they can lose weight very quickly.

“Obviously for Meghan, she’s not putting any pressure on herself, taking her time, she’s breastfeeding. Some women find it quite tricky to lose the baby weight when they’re breastfeeding and personally, I think she looks amazing.”

Meghan is reportedly taking things slowly after giving birth to first child Archie on May 6, and has taken up a “gentle exercise regime.”

Royal commentator Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Weekly last month: "It's been a natural embracing of motherhood, and with that has come a pretty gentle routine. ... Meghan hasn't been hitting the gym. She hasn't been in any hurry to get back in shape.”

If new mums want to lose their baby weight, the NHS website advises: “If you had a straightforward birth, you can start gentle exercise as soon as you feel up to it. This could include walking, gentle stretches, pelvic floor exercises and deep stomach exercises.

“It's usually a good idea to wait until after your six-week postnatal check before you start any high-impact exercise, such as aerobics or running.”
