Roundup: Wheatmore earns soccer win

Mar. 4—RAMSEUR — Wheatmore edged Eastern Randolph 3-2 in PAC-7 2A boys soccer Tuesday at Eastern Randolph.

Ryan Baynard, Collin Burgess and Jagur Williams each scored a goal for the Warriors (5-2-1 overall, 5-2-1 conference). Burgess also had an assist.

Austin Poplin made 11 saves in goal.

RAGSDALE, PAGE

JAMESTOWN — Ragsdale tied 2-2 against Page in Metro 4A Conference boys soccer Tuesday at Kenneth T. Miller Stadium.

The Tigers, who matched the Pirates' two second-half goals to force overtime, moved to 2-7-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.

LACROSSE GLENN, RJ REYNOLDS

KERNERSVILLE — Glenn lost 13-2 against R.J. Reynolds in Conference 13 boys lacrosse Tuesday at Glenn.

The Bobcats dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-8 in the conference.

In the girls game, Reynolds won 18-0. The Ladycats dipped to 0-7 and 0-7.

TENNIS HP CHRISTIAN, CARY CHRISTIAN

CARY — High Point Christian lost 6-3 against Cary Christian in nonconference boys tennis Tuesday in Cary.

Ian Jones and Joel Kim won in singles for the Cougars in their first match of the season. Jones and Kim teamed to also win in doubles.

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, CANNON

HIGH POINT — Wesleyan Christian lost 7-2 against Cannon in boys tennis Tuesday at Wesleyan.

Jonathan Cimpean and John Wagner at No. 2 doubles and Ben McCain and Luke Rudolph at No. 3 doubles won for the Trojans.

GREENSBORO — Wesleyan Christian lost 5-3 against Canterbury in girls soccer Tuesday at Canterbury.

Madison Casteen, Ashley Hawley and Olivia Hoots each scored for the Trojans.
