Sheridan boys claim Bloom-Carroll Invite: Cooper Winders took medalist honors with a 75, as the Generals totaled 326 to claim the team title on Friday.

Reed Coconis and Cael Dowdell added an 83 each, and Blake Turnes carded an 85 for the champions.

John Glenn shows teeth at Cumberland Trail: The Muskies rode Noah Dever's even-par 72 to a third-place finish among a strong Division I field in the 21-team Watkins Memorial Warrior Invitational.

Dever was one of 18 players to shoot in the 70s. He trailed only medalist Tyler Brockwell, of Pickerington North, who had 3-under 69. He tied Dublin Jerome's Blake Hartman, but Hartman won in a three-hole playoff for runner-up medalist honors.

John Glenn shot 313, as Braden Rice had 78, Owen Van Fossen 80 and C.J. Dolan 83. Hayden Gensor's 84 didn't factor into the scoring, but it was his score that made the difference with Galion in a fifth-score playoff.

Columbus St. Charles won with 310 and Jerome was second with 311. Crooksville shot 370 to place 17th as Bo White shot 82, Cooper Watts 92, Vaughn Childress 95 and Gabe Sandefur 101.

John Glenn second at Circle K Invite: Owen Van Fossen fired a 74, as the Muskies totaled 306 to finish second out of 17 teams in Thursday's Circle K Invitational at EagleSticks.

Braden Rice added a 76 and Noah Dever and CJ Dolan carded 78s for the Muskies, while Van Fossen made the all-tournament team.

Maysville came in seventh (321) and Sheridan ninth (326), while Philo (363), Crooksville (384) and Tri-Valley (415) also competed.

Connor Larimer fired 76 to pace the Panthers, as Owen Lutz and Cade Pickrell shot 80s and Hoyt Dodson had an 85.

Cael Dowell's 79 paced the Generals, while Winders shot 81, Coconis 82 and Turnes 84.

AJ Harper carded an 81, Addison Mershon an 86, AJ Layton 88 and Blake Hiles 108 for the Electrics.

Vaughn Childress shot 88, Bo White 89, Cooper Watts 92 and Gabe Sandefur 115 for the Ceramics.

Jacob Grear posted an 88 and Connor Preston had 98 to pace the Scotties.

Carrollton won 299, as Jaxon Rinkes shot 72 to take medalist honors.

West M 6th at MVL-LCL Challenge: Jack Porter came in seventh overall with a 77 and the Tornadoes totaled 353 in the MVL-LCL Challenge at par-72 Echo Springs.

Jacob Allen added a 78, Reid Lemity shot 87 and Clayton Clewell and Mick Anton had 111s for West M.

Newark Catholic won with 301, while Granville was second at 329. Meadowbrook took eighth (383), New Lex ninth (415) and Morgan 12th (443) as the other MVL teams to take part. No leaders were available for those schools.

Boys Soccer

Maysville 5, Fisher Catholic 1: The Panthers opened the season with a victory over the Irish.

Girls Soccer

Bexley 5, John Glenn 0: Isabel Niermeyer and Sofie Sheridan scored a pair of goals in the season opener for the Blue Lions in a nonleague shutout of the visiting Muskies.

Niermeyer and Mia Elliott scored in the first 10 minutes as Bexley led 2-0 at the half. Sheridan scored both of her goals after halftime.

Faith Lemon totaled 15 saves against 20 shots on goal for John Glenn.

Bexley's reserves won, 5-0.

Steubenville 9, Morgan 1: The Big Red knocked off the visiting Raiders in the season opener.
