The Cowboys have spent the first two games of 2022 with limited weapons on the outside for quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush. Third-round pick Jalen Tolbert was thrust into high expectations immediately after the draft considering the glaring need at receiver.

After spending the first two games as a healthy scratch, Tolbert will make his NFL debut in MetLife Stadium against the Giants. While he adds to the arsenal, wide receiver Michael Gallup is inactive after early hope that he would be making his 2022 debut against New York.

Tight end Dalton Schultz went through normal pregame routines, testing his right knee after an injury suffered in Week 2 but he’ll be taking the night off in New York to prepare for Washington. Backups Jake Ferguson and Sean McKeon are expected to take over extra snaps in his absence.

Nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters will make his Dallas debut against a team he’s spent over a decade lining up against. Peters may take the place of left guard Connor McGovern, who is inactive for a second straight week with an ankle injury suffered against the Buccaneers. Prescott got the stitches out of his hand but he’s still working back from the fractured thumb he suffered in the season opener.

On the defense, safety Jayron Kearse is inactive for a second straight week, another player who went down with an injury in Week 1. Linebacker Luke Gifford and cornerback Nahson Wright round out the seven Cowboys inactives, opening the door for linebacker Jabril Cox to get playing time after a torn ACL in 2021.

Fifht-overall pick Kayvon Thibodeaux will make his NFL debut for the Giants while Azeez Ojulari is back in the lineup, boosting New York up front while Leonard Williams is held out with a knee injury.

Wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who lit up the Cowboys for 189 yards last season is inactive as well as running mate Wan’Dale Robinson. The Giants have three inactive cornerbacks: Aaron Robinson, Justin Layne and Nick McCloud. Robinson had five tackles against Tennessee and has earned starting snaps for New York. Linebacker Tomon Fox is also inactive, making it seven for both teams.

2022’s first installment Cowboys-Giants kicks off at 7:15 p.m. CT, broadcast on ABC and ESPN.
