Rogers County Winter Farmers Market begins

Dec. 2—Rogers County Winter Farmers Market will be from 9-11 a.m. on the first and third Saturday of the month through March at the Claremore Community Center, 2301 N Sioux Ave.

Items that will be at the winter market includes eggs, honey, baked goods, meat, micro-greens and mushrooms. There will be craft vendors.

Farmers Market Director Reighly Hendrix said this is the third year for the winter market.

"Our first year was really small," Hendrix said. "It was still during COVID. So you know that that obviously played a big role in the fact that it was small. But last year, we had a very successful winter market and we're looking forward to this year being even more successful, especially with how our season went."

During the summer farmers market, Hendrix said they had an average of 28 venders and 700 customers per market.

Hendrix said the market has made a huge impact on the community for customers and vendors.

"As we've grown, it's amazing to see returning customers coming and bringing their family and really building a connection with the vendors at the farmers market," she said.

Hendrix said the feedback she's received from consumers is they appreciate having a personal relationship with the person who is growing their food.

"I am really big on supporting local and when I think of that, I just think of how much money is staying in our local economy," she said. "And I think that that is amazing."
