Rockets make more history with NBA record for losing, winning streaks in same season

The bizarre sequence of losses and wins for the 2021-22 Houston Rockets (8-16) continues to make NBA and sports history by the day.

With Sunday’s win over New Orleans, the Rockets became the first team in the history of the NBA, MLB, NFL or NHL to win six consecutive games immediately after a losing streak of at least 15 games. Now, with Wednesday’s win over Brooklyn to extend the streak to seven, the Rockets have become the first team in NBA history to ever lose 15 or more consecutive games and also win at least seven straight during the same season — let alone having one streak come right after the other.

Undoubtedly, the fact that Wednesday’s history came against Brooklyn and former teammate James Harden made it even sweeter.

Can the Rockets keep it going? The run won’t get any easier when they wrap up a four-game homestand with Friday’s visit from reigning NBA champion Milwaukee. Tipoff at Toyota Center is set for 7:00 p.m. Central.
