Rock Paper Scissor salon closes in DeVargas Center
Nov. 29—Rock Paper Scissor salon closed permanently Wednesday at DeVargas Center, and owner Melodi Wyss reopened Monday as the three-chair, invitation-only, rebranded Johnny's Garage near Don Diego Avenue.
Wyss has been operating Rock Paper Scissor at different locations since opening in December 2001 at 422 W. San Francisco St. Her salon was one of several refugees from the Sanbusco Market Center that ended up at DeVargas in 2015-16.
Rock Paper Scissor was at Sanbusco for seven years, DeVargas for six years and a few earlier years on Guadalupe Street.
"A 14-chair salon didn't suit my style anymore," Wyss said. "I am taking the best of the services and the best of staff to Johnny's Garage. It's a three-chair salon with four stylists. It's a much more personalized approach."
Johnny's Garage will add a new line of hair products from Rosanno Ferretti, she said.
Wyss is not publicizing the location of Johnny's Garage, as customers are by invitation only.
