River View BOE meeting notes

WARSAW — The River View Local Schools Board of Education recently met to conduct routine business of the district.

The district received $2,585 in donations in April with the majority being for senior yard signs. This included $600 from McWane Ductile for Black Bear Fest, $300 from Jamie Donaker for junior high cheerleaders and $250 from Brittany Petty for Teen Leadership.

Doug Allen was hired as the fixed asset clerk for the coming school year. Taylor Ireland will be a fifth grade social studies teacher at Warsaw Elementary and Torey Reed will serve as an intervention specialist. Amber Latham will be an one-on-one aide for 5 3/4 hours a day at Warsaw Elementary.

Carolina Habacher from Austria was approved as an exchange student for next school year staying with Paul and Jennifer Wilkes.

Beth Hammersley is retiring from administration after seven years with River View and 34 years in education. The retired Jerry Olinger is returning to serve as principal at Keene Elementary. Ashley Shepler is resigning as a paraprofessional at Conesville.

Summer custodial help for the high school will be Cindy Miller, Ethan Parrish, Malek Better, Briar Bradford and Wyatt Gallagher. For the junior high is Annette Corder, Tiffany Hague and Mary Salmons. Amy Jo Johnson and Ellyn Smalley will work at Conesville. Ken Bosley, Todd Liberatore, Dana Widder and Megan Schultz will be at Warsaw.

Several teachers have been approved for virtual training on co-teaching at a stipend of $150 a day. They are Ashley Storms, Mary Bell, Cyrus Granger, Brian Darr, Marci Snively, Dan Shrimplin, Dustin Kent, Karin Moran and Shelly Byland.

Teachers participating in SPED training and the Science of Reading at $150 a day are Kim Bumpus, Allison Gothard, Tiffany Unger and Stacey Kaser.

Teachers participating in SST 12 transition training for SPED students at $150 a day are Morgan Buxton, Heath Chaney, Eric Bickel, Ben Belden, Mike Hemming, Ashley Storms, Cyrus Granger, Marci Snively, Dustin Kent, Tracey Webster, Allison Gothard, Cassidy Hunter Pfenning, Kelly Rinkes and Torey Reed.
