Slimline Rishi Sunak orders takeaway salads via Deliveroo when he wants a treat, he revealed today.

“There’s lots of great salad places on there,” he told a sceptical Nick Ferrari on LBC.

He also revealed he “had stuffed crust pizza last night” after his long day delivering the Budget.

“It was very good, when we got in very late to the hotel at 11 o’clock.”

Mr Sunak, who has travelled to Middlesbrough to publicise his measures, could not recall the name of the restaurant he ordered salads from but insisted: “They’re very, very good… there’s plenty of healthy options on there, but ultimately I trust people to make the right decisions for them and their family.

“I think it’s OK if we have burgers and pizza, as long as you’re having it in moderation. I enjoy those things.”

The Chancellor is famous for healthy eating and small portions. He is said to survive on handfuls of fruit and nuts during the day and to eat light dishes like chicken broth at night.
