Richmond moves forward with new dog park

May 12—A bid was awarded for the relocation of the Lake Reba Dog Park on Tuesday evening.

The Richmond City Commission selected Wildcat Fencing Company of London, Kentucky in the amount of $17,987.47.

They were one of two companies to bid on the fencing project, and will include a black coated chain link fence with gates and all installations.

The decision to relocate the dog park was determined after several concerns were made to parks department members in Richmond about the dog park in Lake Reba, the parks board discussed other options.

In early April, Erin Moore, the director of parks administration and recreation, asked the board what their thoughts were.

"There have been a lot of concerns and issues regarding the dog park at Lake Reba," she said. "It is a mud pit the entire time that it has been there, and it continues to be a mud pit, and it is not usable all the time."

After a green-light was given to proceed with updates, the group determined the park would be relocated to the park's backside near the soccer fields portion.
