Easter is fast approaching. Need ideas for Easter brunch or dinner? Many metro Detroit restaurants are offering special Easter menus if cooking isn't an option or you want to have the day out.

Easter is typically a busy time for restaurants with brunches and buffets. Many are still shying away from the brunch buffet but there are several that offer one. If you don't want to eat in, there are several options for take-out meals.

Reservations are highly recommended. Be sure to check with restaurants for opening hours and availability.

Here's a sampling of what's offered at several metro Detroit restaurants.

Crystal Gardens

Easter brunch buffet seatings are noon and 2 p.m. Choose from dishes like rigatoni with meatballs, freshly carved prime rib and country-baked ham. $34.95 for adults; $32.95 for seniors; $18.95 for children age 4-10 years. A pre-made heat-and-serve Easter dinner to go is $115 and served five. The meal includes sliced ham, boneless chicken, macaroni and cheese, roasted potatoes, green bean casserole, pasta salad, apple pie, and carrot cake. Place orders by April 14 for curbside pick up 10 a.m. and noon on Easter Sunday.

Easter weekend seafood boil party with chef Max Hardy. Tie on a bib and get ready to nosh on crab legs, crawfish, claws, mussels, Georgia sausage, corn, egg, creole rice, mac n cheese and apple cobbler. There’s also stuffed Maryland crab shell and sides of Creole rice, mac and cheese, garlic and basil roll.

Seatings are 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. April 16 and noon and 3 p.m. April 17. The cost is $90 per person. Yurts are available for parties of six. A wine pairing is available for an additional cost.

Open for dinner reservations at 2 p.m. Easter Sunday. Guests can enjoy menu favorites like sea scallops with asparagus, lemon yogurt, and hazelnut, or lamb chops with jerk rub, sweet potatoes, pineapple, and black kale. Sweet treats like black forest cake (an April-only special), vanilla bean waffles with candied bacon, and cheesecake with orange and sesame caramel will also be available.

Hazel's

1 Peabody Street, Birmingham

Known for its seasonal, seafood-centric menu, Hazel's Eastern shore dishes highlighting blue crab recently returned. On Easter, the restaurant will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Brunch highlights include French toast, crab cakes, and eggs topped with lobster bisque as well as Hazel's pancake offerings of buttermilk, blueberry or chocolate, and banana. There's also soft shell crab cake benedict.

Holly Hotel

A several-course, plated brunch is served 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's $39 per person. The brunch features Holly Hotel muffins and English scones served with fresh cream and fig jam, followed by mixed fruit salad topped with a dollop of Greek yogurt. Four main entrée choices are offered including waffle eggs Benedict with smoked ham loin and asparagus and a Cobb egg frittata. Children's option (12 and under, $15) featured French toast or Holly Hotel mac 'n cheese. An Easter plated dinner is served 4-8 p.m. and is $59 per person. The dinner includes baked spinach and feta tart, an asparagus and wild leek soup and a salad of organic lettuce topped with Asian pears, Oregon blue cheese, and pecans. Choose from five entrees including an Easter lamb shank and a vegetarian option of vegetable Wellington. Dessert is served with both brunch and dinner.

Bloomfield location Easter brunch buffet is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's $65 for adults; $30 ages 5-10; 4 and under are free. Tax and 18% gratuity are not included. Plated dinner service is 4-8 p.m. Buffet includes a carving station of ham, beef and salmon. There's a sushi bar, raw bar with shrimp, oysters and more and a Belgian Waffles station. the grand buffet offers classic eggs benedict, quiche, soft scrambled eggs, shrimp and grits, biscuits and gravy, chicken picatta and more. There's also a salad bar and dessert bar with breakfast bread, pastries, tortes, cakes, and pies.

At Joe Muer in Detroit a plated dinner service will be offered noon to 8 p.m.

Open from 1-6 p.m. with a limited menu. Starter menu choices includes calamari, castelvetrano olives, Thai Brussel sprouts and beet brulee. A host of entrees are offered including baked airline chicken with risotto, baked ham diner, pork chops, lamb chops, Dover sole, salmon, filet, New York Strip and a ribeye.

The Whitney

Three-course brunch is served 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is $59.95 per person. Brunch includes a mimosa or fresh-squeezed orange juice along with fresh brewed Kona coffee or tea. Appetizers are cocktail shrimp with traditional sauce, seared beef tenderloin crostini and strawberry in double cream. Choice of entrees, all served with fresh scones and double cream, including Gulf coast shrimp scramble, brick chicken, tenderloin tip and potato hash, French toast, a seared salmon benedict or The Whitney signature beef wellington entrée featuring Creekstone tenderloin. The children’s menu is $29.95 for ages 10 and under.

An Easter bunny afternoon tea is 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on April 16. This kid-friendly event features an afternoon luncheon along with a visit from the Easter bunny plus an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Cost is $79, 10 and under $49.

Sweet treats are available for pre-order from the group that operates several metro Detroit restaurants including Clarkston Union, Honcho, Fenton Fire Hall and Vinsetta Garage. There's a carrot cake ($24.95) spread with robin's egg blue citrus cream cheese icing and topped off with a brown sugar tuile nest filled with chocolate eggs. Snack pack of sweet treats includes carrot cake balls, chocolate shortbread, lemon Pavlova egg, and a blackberry and cream pop tart for $14.95. You can order Easter mac and cheese with added caramelized leeks, roasted asparagus and smoky ham. The mac and cheese is unbaked and available in a full tray, half-trays, and single orders ($130-$16.95. The cutoff for orders is 9 p.m. April 12. Pick up is 1-4 p.m. April 16 at Honcho or Fenton Fire Hall.
